Tannins at Torquay is your go-to oasis in Hervey Bay for unforgettable shared experiences. Step into our elegant yet relaxed haven and explore a large selection of boutique wines—mostly by the glass—alongside carefully crafted cocktails, beers and spirits. Our menu which has been carefully crafter by international celebrity chef Paul Rowan consists of grazing platters and small plates, designed for sharing. Our sunny courtyard (dog-friendly, of course) sets the scene for laid-back enjoyment.

We’re passionate about creating memories: expect regular live music, globe-trotting themed nights, and a touch of British charm with English beers and traditional Fish & Chips (with all the trimmings) every Friday. At Tannins, everything revolves around good company, great flavours, and savouring every moment together.

The food was fantastic, the service was excellent, the ambiance was great. Lots of different places to sit and enjoy your food. We will definitely be going back again … and again.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Warm atmosphere. Comfortable surroundings. Food however was lacking. Basically a choice of 3 different grazing platters that most people could prepare at home themselves. There was food under our table which appeared to be leftover from the night prior and a large bug enjoying it. Decor is a little tired & worn. Not really worth it for the food. Maybe an ok spot for a relaxing drink.

We had a lovely evening at Tannins with friendly staff and terrific food! It was a perfect date night and we'll be back again soon!

Tannins was previously one of our favourite restaurants in the Bay and a place where the experience has been so good that I have even tipped very well at the end of the night (something I only do with exceptional dinners). To say that we were shocked is an understatement as we have had probably the worst restaurant experience in memory. So much so that we won’t be back again. In our view the service was appalling and ordering and getting food was just a disaster (some food wasn’t delivered until about 30 mins after our main cheeseboard arrived. We were also very disappointed with the wine selection and value (although we only had one type of wine it was previously a highlight to enjoy their selections). In the end we just couldn’t wait to pay our bill and leave. I still gave the ambience a good rating as the young girl singing there was very good.

Set Spanish menu, paella was a cheap option for a main with overcooked and gritty muscles. Accompanying guitarist was very good. We felt the sangria should be been a free flow as a very cheap drink to make. Owner walking round with jug but never topped anyone's glass up. Wait staff asked several times if we wanted anything else when it's a set menu. Better to ask, can I get you a refil. Need to be more sepific.
