Tanta is dedicated to sharing the flavors and culture of Peru with Chicago, serving authentic Peruvian dishes and beverages in an approachable, fun and casual downtown setting. We provide service that is casual yet knowledgeable, genuine and attentive, utilizing locally sourced products and vendors that are sensitive to sustainable farming and fishing.

Tanta has two Chef’s Tables that each seat up to 10 people. These tables are located in our main dining room in between our open kitchen and cebiche bar which allows you and your guests to experience our chefs creating Peruvian cuisine while you dine.

The menu, created by Acurio and Tanta Chicago Chefs Jesus Delgado and Jose Cubas, takes diners on a voyage through Peru via its food. From the Pacific Ocean, through the Andes, to the desert, to the Amazon, Tanta celebrates the diverse landscape and ethnicities that make up Peru’s culture.

Food was amazing, portions are family style & price was I feel a bit excessive...but we are in the city afyerall. For our party of 4 for us was $480 not including tip!

Everything we had was delicious. Fav nigiri was the wagyu & TUNA!!! Veal heart skewers (first time) were divine. Wantaco & salmon nigiri I wouldn’t get again but was tasty. Lomo saltado was great, ordered it medium rare. Everything was seasoned and sauced divinely. The yuca fries with their dipping sauce probably stole the show… 11/10. Got the tres leches which was very tiramisu esq. overall highly recommend. I’d like to try more things on the menu too. Love the options for a lot of smaller dishes too

The food and beverage offerings are outstanding. I highly recommend the empanadas. The main dishes are sizeable - many of them good for sharing if you have also ordered a salad or appetizer.

When one of my friends from Chicago found out I was coming to visit, she sent a list of restaurants. Tanta was top of her list. I was honestly a bit surprised to hear her favorite restaurant in Chicago is a Peruvian place (growing up with chain Peruvian) but after going to Tanta twice I see why it is her favorite. Perfect balance of flavors with a modern and inspired approach. The Lomo Saltado puts all others to shame.

Never had Peruvian food before. The waiter was very helpful explaining the menus and the drinks. Love that fish bowel gin drink!! We shared everything and trued lots of dishes. Everything was grea!! We will be back, and our guest too!!

Compliments to the chef on a great NYE menu – it was outstanding! Every dish was a surprise. It was light and just the right portion – I did not feel stuffed after dinner. The dessert was the best I have ever had! I do not have a sweet tooth, but it was SO good I took my husband's dessert home for myself. (He is on a keto diet and skipping carbs.)

First off, I would like to say that our server Fran was not only very attentive, but she was very thorough describing the food. She was also very patient with us individually to help us make our selections. We started with the Empanada De Tamalito which were outstanding. The entrée choices were Churrasco Escabechado, the steak was very tender much to my liking and the plantains really outstanding. We ordered four servings of Lomo Saltado and boy am I telling you my friends swore this was the best meal they have ever had. I can’t wait to eat my leftovers, I wanted so bad to eat the rest when I returned home but I was stuffed. Last but not least the dessert was chart topping, I don’t remember the name but ice cream was served with it. It is a must have. Overall for my friends it was their first experience at a Peruvian restaurant and they scored it a 10.

Have been here many times, always like it. Food is good, many choices, service was good, no issues. However, I absolutely hate when you are told the minute you walk in that you have to leave in 2 hrs. If management reads it - please stop this annoying practice. My bill is usually $350-450 and never spend more than 2 hrs but have some respect for your customers who pay your bills. Do not insult your old good customers.
