At Millpond Gatherings, we are an all-encompassing hospitality center where you can eat, celebrate, shop, and stay with us here in the quaint town of Northford, Connecticut. The Millpond Steakhouse, run by Executive Chef Pedro Avila, is a farm-to-table modern American steakhouse with a fine dining flare. Our dry-aged grass-fed beef is sourced from our own cattle farm just 2 miles up the road and accompanied with local produce from our surrounding farmers. Downstairs in the Tavern we encompass the spirit of historic New England with a cozy laid back atmosphere.

Millpond Events is our venue hall located adjacent to the restaurant. This rustic charming space will harvest many special memories and celebrations.

The food was outstanding and the waitstaff was very attentive without being overbearing. You will not be disappointed.

We reserved a table for four in the tavern for New Years Eve at 5:00pm. I requested by the fireplace. We had been to this establishment once before for a wedding and loved the atmosphere. To our surprise when we arrived for dinner, we were seated in the farthest section of the tavern in a corner surround by TV's and an emergency exit. This was not going to work. This was not the vibe we wanted for New Years Eve dinner. We let the hostess know we drove an hour here and did not want to be seated around a bunch of TV's, we would have just gone to a bar back home if that was the case. My husband stated we aren't about to drop $300 on dinner to be seated in a bar area near TV's. She stated there was nothing she could do and my husband asked to speak to a manager. We ended up being moved into the Tavern to a better table, where the hostess reminded us of a two hour time limit. After ordering drinks and appetizers, our waiter advised us that the kitchen was running a little behind and that our meals would be out shortly. It wasn't more than 2 minutes after we finished our dinner that the hostess came over and said our time was almost up and that they needed the table. I let her know that the kitchen was behind and that wasn't our fault and we we just finished our meals and planned on getting after dinner drinks and dessert. She wasn't happy with this and said again that they would need our table. The whole experience felt rushed and unwelcomed. We spent well over $400, steak dinners need to be a minimum of 3 hours. My friend ordered penne vodka which ended up being more like marinara and when the manager came over to ask how everything was we let them know the meal wasn't what we expected and he agreed that it wasn't your typical vodka sauce and took it off the bill. All of our appetizers came our warm at best as well as all of our sides with dinner. Overall the experience was not worth the drive or the money we spent. Steaks were good, food was good, atmosphere not.

Third time was the charm. Thursday night prime rib buffet. Perfect!

We had dinner in the Tavern. Warm and cozy ambiance with the fireplace. Service was great! Ava was attentive while making us feel relaxed and not rushed. Food was tasty. Definitely a repeat.

Service and food were very good. Little loud in the tavern but with having a musician there playing one would expect the noise level to be higher. Nice touch to have music at the tavern.

Party of 4 on a Friday in the Tavern section. Service was excellent. Very noisy but busy atmosphere including a guitar player/singer. Food was very good and quick. Nachos were delicious, but cold. Calamari was fantastic and so was my chicken penne ala vodka. Large portion, and it tasted even better the following day.

Had dinner in tavern a week after having my birthday dinner in the steakhouse. Much better in the tavern than steakhouse. Steakhouse dinner was WAY TOO salty. Had short ribs and they were very salty. GOAT cheese polenta was terrible. Calamari app was well done (over cooked) and salty. At tavern I had Texas chili. It had beans and was sweet. Whatever. When the place first opened all of my chef friends and people in the business said menu was “predictable”. Being in the business and knowing how much money goes into starting a place like this, I was disappointed. Maybe they have a new cook in the kitchen? If not, take the salt away from them. Will go back to try prime rib Thursday since there aren’t many places that serve it anymore. Will post after that.

Went here to celebrate my mom’s birthday in December. It was great to see the restaurant decked out for the holidays and everyone enjoyed their meal. Our server Ashley could not have been nicer and even gave my mom a celebratory dessert for free - thank you!
