Locally owned and operated, TAVERN ON SOUTH is a casual, yet sophisticated restaurant and bar located in the shadow of Lucas Oil Stadium and just a short walk from Victory Field as well as the Convention Center and downtown business district. Our menu is focused on seasonally inspired selections utilizing fresh, quality ingredients. Our well stocked bars feature regional craft beers on draft making TAVERN ON SOUTH a favorite spot for a refreshing beverage.



Our two-story, brick building built in 1910 features a warm, inviting interior that includes a bar and outdoor dining on both levels. The second level deck that looks out to the downtown skyline is the best seat in Indy, perfect for catching some sun over the lunch hour or dining with your friends on a beautiful Indiana evening. Plus, we have plenty of complimentary on-site parking!!!

                                                    Absolutely loved the ribs! The flatbread was underwhelming. Happy to get a meal in a pinch in walking distance from my hotel for a conference.

                                                    Our server made it obvious they were overworked, running around and not looking at us when they took our order, only being quickly friendly when they dropped off the bill. The food and drinks were fine but It was all kind of funny.

                                                    Our server was friendly and helpful, but the food was disappointing. The cowboy burger was dry and lacking in flavor with the BBQ sauce being the dominant flavor. The Mahi Mahi fingers were a bit soggy and a small serving given the $18. price tag. It’s close to Lucas Oil, but that isn’t enough to make us consider going back.

                                                    The staff are all very nice. That’s about it for positives. Food pretty basic, nothing special. One person at table ordered a medium burger, it was well done and charred. Didn’t send it back because it took so long for the food to arrive we didn’t have time to wait for a new burger. While waiting we got to look at empty tables around us that were never bussed, filled with dirty dishes. Asked the server if she could turn the IU game on the tv we could see that had a game on no one in area upstairs was watching. She said she would go ask. Tv was never changed, but the real kicker is the server never even mentioned anything about it to us. In one ear out the other. Disappointed because this place has potential to be super, turn more tables and make more, perfect location, but sadly would not recommend.

                                                    This was our second visit in a row with really slow service. We get excited about many of the menu options but the orders are delivered very delayed and/or with mistakes. Servers are nice. Not sure of the issue.
