Taverna - Wilmington is a “neighborhood gathering place.” Inspired by both the casual watering holes and belly warming kitchens found within homes all throughout Italy, Taverna suggests a rural approach to refined Italian cooking.

                                                                                                            In my experience of dining out, when we arrived at the restaurant, was offered a small 2 top table in the worst location where there is a lot of traffic. I asked for a larger table as there was a lot of 4 tops empty, was told that the restaurant is expecting a lot of "6-tops this evening". They "wiggled us in a 4-top however needed to be out in 1 hour 20mins". I've never been given a time limit before and we dine in many high-end restaurants in Philadelphia and Manhattan. We agreed as I thought that should be sufficient but felt rushed and I found myself looking at my watch the whole time. The service and the food was its usual goodness as we dine at all of PDG restaurants. We did finish in 1 hour but again wasn't a great experience and if this happens again, I will leave the restaurant and will not return.

                                                                                                            Such a great surprise… from the warm greeting at the door, to our server who was so nice and attentive, to the amazing food we had… this was a win and I totally recommend you stop in to experience for yourself!!!

                                                                                                            I asked if they could make chicken marsala. Waiter said they serve veal marsala once a week so he'd ask. What I got was breaded chicken in a heavy butter sauce with a little lemon. More like chicken franchese although not a good version of that, either. The manager came by to ask how the meals were. Told him of my disappointment. He agreed it didn't look like marsala and walked away. No "I'm sorry would you like something else?" "How can we make it right?" Just walked away. I've been there 4 times now (someone else picked it this time). I find it mediocre, at best but after this experience, won't be going back.

                                                                                                            Tonight was our first experience at Taverna! We were blown away by the quality of the food! The esthetic of the restaurant was an added bonus! We will definitely be back for another visit!
