The Barn Steakhouse is a “meat-centric hideaway” housed in a 19th century brick barn hidden away down an alley in the middle of Evanston. A homage to owner Amy Morton’s legendary father, restaurateur Arnie Morton (Morton’s Steakhouse), the menu boasts the finest quality ingredients available including table-side salad service and prime heritage Angus steaks. As The Barn's menu is ever-evolving, the exact menu may be different when you dine.

Featured in the Chicago Tribune and Evanston Now, The Barn is situated in a 19th century building, which was once a horse stable. Its entrance is accessible through the back alleyway for a unique experience. The intimate spot is accessible only through the alley and features soaring ceilings. This eatery also provides seating for up to 80 guests as well as outdoor seating in the winter garden.

The Barn is an exceptional place to dine especially for a special occasion. We had a 3-person birthday celebration which I appreciated the restaurant acknowledged with a sparkler for the table and some digestifs. The Barn's prix-fixe dinner between 5:00-6:00pm is worthwhile to come early for. The 3-course meal is a decent value and the portion size is perfect. The atmosphere is the best.

The Barn is a gem in Evanston that we’ve enjoyed several times over the years. Last night, the steaks were fantastic as always, but the service was off and aggressively rushed. We had only sat down for a few minutes when the server told us we needed to order everything right away - a rough start to New Year’s when we were planning to enjoy over 2 hours and ring in midnight there. It made no sense given we were not the last seating and there weren’t people waiting for tables. Perhaps the staff was trying to get us out because they were trying to make it somewhere else. The table was set with bread plates when we sat down. We asked for bread three times, but they did not bring until after they had cleared the bread plates and our entrees had come. We noted a scallion allergy at the table. Two potatoes came out without, but the third was garnished with scallions and therefore uneditable. I appreciate that New Year’s can be tough night, but what could have been a fantastic evening fell short.

Great food, great ambiance and great staff. My husband had as starter French onion soup following by a center Manhattan steak great flavor and tender, grilled to his liking of medium rare. I had the crab spaghetti- absolutely delicious highly recommend it. No skimping on the crab meat. For dessert we had Arnie’s chocolate velvet cake and the sour cream cheese cake - scrumptious 🎂😋🥰

Was at The Barn for a New Years Eve dinner with a friend, overall amazing experience. Cocktails and bar service was excellent. Dinner, steaks and sides, were prepared to perfection. Wine list was very diverse and selections were ideal for whatever you selected as your dinner entrée. Service was 5-star from the valet, greeter at the front, bartender and full dinner staff. The Barn has always been my favorite for dinner with family, friends, business colleagues and for special occasions. Never disappointed in the years I have been visiting The Barn!

The perfect way to ring in the new year! Loved the Shrimp Zoraine appetizer, Beef Wellington main meal and Arnie’s Velvet Cake for dessert. Yum!
