---The Berghoff Restaurant is a Chicago landmark, serving German-style cuisine and culture since 1898. One of the oldest family-run businesses in the nation, now run by the fourth generation, Pete Berghoff. Today's Berghoff menus have evolved to add newer, lighter, and more contemporary dishes, but it's still the same old Berghoff, down to the famous root beer. In December 2018, the Berghoff family opened Adams Street Brewery, aptly named after the street they have called home for over a century, to nod to their brewing roots and commemorate the restaurant's 120th anniversary.

    We were placed in a small side room and it was so disappointing. The other party in the room was very drunk and loud. Very sad that our annual tradition of going to this restaurant for a family holiday dinner was not great.

    Amazing classic German culinary experience! Food was perfect, our server (Marsha) was AWESOME and the holiday ambiance made it a wonderful experience. Only downside was the absence of dunkel on tap. Cannot wait to try it again! PROST!

    I’ve been coming here for year since I was a kid. It was still very good, but the Black Forest cake wasn’t as good as it used to be. Can you bring back the original recipe?

    We made reservations months in advance and when we got there, the table near the Christmas tree , they told us would not be available for 20-30 minutes. We were given the choice of waiting or eating in a side room off of the kitchen.. We were a party of 5. The ambience was very different. The food was good with every person having a different dish. The desserts were particularly good.

    Classic spot and that’s what it is. Not great not bad. Would love to see this Chicago icon improve a bit.
