   Our meal was delicious. Bailey was soo accommodating. She made sure our meal was an enjoyable experience. One of us has severe allergies. Blackwell is one of the few restaurants she could eat without having a reaction. Good job Blackwell!

   Absolutely wonderful, as usual. This is our 5th year in a row coming here for our Anniversary. It gets better every time. The staff was wonderful. A special shout-out to Emma our waitress. Very kind and attentive. Very knowledgeable about the daily specials and I actually chose one (Liver and Onions, which was absolutely fantastic. I’ve never had a piece of liver that size. It was cooked to perfection. I never normally have a doggy bag when I leave a restaurant but I had one this time. I mean literally this could feed two people. My wife had the Waldorf Steak Salad and she loved it . Generous portions again. Gambrills has a gem in Blackwall Barn & Lodge. If you’re looking for a great evening out to have good food and drinks I definitely recommend you check this place out. You won’t be disappointed.

   This is our second visit to the Blackwall restaurant. The server we had was excellent, and the food exceeded our expectations. I ordered the braised beef short ribs and was excellent. My wife had the Caesar salad with salmon that was also excellent and our overall experience was very, very good. The one negative about the restaurant is the noise level. The way the room is constructed all sounds are reflected, making any kind of conversation difficult. Notwithstanding this one criticism we will make this restaurant part of our date night rotation.

   Some food items were cold and/or bland. Omelet, waffles and shrimp and grits were good. Overall, would go again to satisfy a group but not a place a have to go to. It was packed and tables aren’t spacious in the dining area near the door. Seems nice for event space. Also, I’m not a big fan of buffets so consider that with this review. Would go back for a traditional meal see if that’s different.

   Food was amazing for the value and so fresh because of how busy they were the food was getting replenished as people were getting their plates and barely had time to sit out. Definitely recommend. I ordered a strawberry half and half and it was okay, honestly needed more lemonade or flavor in general, but I didn’t bother asking the waiter to fix it was too focused on the food. Will def be back. Was expecting something special since I told them it was my birthday but nothing happened

   After having the most glorious night there a month ago, we could not repeat the magic. They did not save the table we requested and put us in the back room where there were birthday parties and large tables, not an intimate dining experience. It took a solid 15-20 minutes to get cocktails at our table, the manager told the waitress that I made a mistake when he didn't pay attention to me. The wine service was questionable. It was just not elegant. The food was excellent, however. Disappointed and will probably go to their other restaurant in Columbia to give it one more tie-breaking shot.

    I ordered the New York Strip Steak special. My steak was over cooked. I ordered a medium well and told the waiter that I wanted it “pink” on the inside. The steak I received was well done. It was replaced with a second steak and it was also well done. I gave up on trying to get a steak the way I liked it. The potatoes severed with the meal were also under cook (raw) and uneatable. That was my first and last visit to the Blackwall Barn Restaurant in Gambrills, Maryland.
