The Crathorne Arms is a great pub in a wonderful community spirited village, lovely people, Lord Crathorne himself couldn’t be more supportive, how lucky we are.

Our life has come a full circle from a town pub in Middlesbrough (well Eugene has) to the tontine (McCoys Hotel, Restaurant and Bistro) to a village pub in Crathorne, Ten Minutes from Middlesbrough.

We live above the pub, our furniture and furnishings live downstairs as they can’t and won’t fit up the stairs! So the canoe has the condiments, the bookcases our books, the huge sofa with big squashy cushions to sink into, tin lanterns reflecting patterns on the ceiling, this all makes for a homely feel and that’s what we would like to create along with good wholesome food and drink.

Of Course the staff, front of house and kitchen are all great, hardworking, smiley, enthusiastic young people and a joy to work with.

No problem here, great service. Just noticing that the kitchen is short cutting too much. By their own standards, a very poor ‘kept warm’ Christmas dinner. Hope they’ll wake up, the front of house team deserve much higher standards than the kitchen/management are delivering.

It’s always a treat to eat at the Crathorne Arms. This was a very busy evening in the week before Christmas but the staff coped brilliantly and were friendly and cheerful. Great food

The staff were friendly and attentive, and the overall ambiance of the place was nice. We chose from the £26 fixed price for 2 courses menu and disappointingly, my meal whilst very tasty was just to say lukewarm on arrival especially considering there was very little on the plate! When the head waiter returned to check on everything, I did advise him of this. He immediately apologised (as apparently did the chef), and offered to "heat it up" for me, but I declined as it was my birthday and I didn't want my husband to be eating alone whilst I waited for the microwave to ping so that I too would be eating alone. That said there were other more bountiful plates being served such as christmas dinners and burgers that appeared to be steaming. Maybe I just chose the wrong main?

Our team Christmas lunch - food fantastic. The Apple frangipan was absolutely delicious.

Nice venue, though bar area too cold today. Need to start fire earlier. Welcoming staff. Christmas food lunch nice but not outstanding. Medium size portions. Average value for money.

I’ve been coming to the Crathorne Arms for many years and it never disappoints. Everything about it is just great including really lovely staff
