"The world drinks tea. Come have some with us today!" The English Tea Room and Eatery is one of the shops you don't expect to find on the short but interesting Lee Lane in Covington's walkable city core. The shop offers more than 260 choices of teas and serves fresh-baked scones with house-made clotted cream and house-made lemon curd along with all-day high tea [finger sandwiches, savories & chocolate covered strawberries] and many other English food items such as banger & mash, Coronation Chicken Salad, Scotch eggs, quiches, Shepherd's Pie, etc.

We are located on the corner of Rutland St. and N. Florida St. is just a block from the antique stores on Lee Lane and one block from the art galleries on Columbia. Off-street parking is available, wheelchair Lift and ample free parking on Florida St. and Rutland St and nearby Free Public Parking [Ox lot].

It was my mother’s 81st birthday. When we first arrived it was extremely warm inside and so they turned the air on and it got extremely cold. They need to find a happy medium with their system. I get it, old building but can’t have customers so uncomfortable. Our server was the best! She was very attentive and knowledgeable about all 200 of the teas on the menu. (They should trim that down) The food was delicious! Only issue we had other than the indoortemperature was they did not serve us our savory scones. We realized after we left and we were full. However, we did pay for them. Overall, it was so lovely and my mom really enjoyed herself.

Overall, the food and teas are always great! Service is consistent and good too! My only complaint is the last two times I’ve been there with a group of friends that I don’t see often, they’ve capped our time to two hours. They will come over and say “the next party will get here in 15 minutes” so to essentially wrap it up. I’ve always thought of tea service as a very relaxing, slow paced experience where you can take your time and savor the experience, but the last two times, we’ve ended up feeling rushed and had to go elsewhere to finish our conversation. I would definitely still recommend to people, unless you are trying to catch up with a group of friends that you don’t see often then I’d say find somewhere else.

We visited The English Tea Room a few days after Christmas for the Christmas High Tea. The service was excellent and we had plenty of delicious food for all 5 of us. Everyone really enjoyed it! The atmosphere was great and we never felt rushed to finish. I highly recommend this place!

A consistent, good experience for high tea. A Christmastime tradition for my wife and I to drive to the northshore for a quick midday getaway. Highly recommend this place!
