   Lovely pub in a beautiful setting. Very friendly staff on arrival and great service at the table. Would have been 5*'s but we waited an hour to be served our food and had to ask twice when it was coming. However the waiter was extremely polite, professional in explaining 'all the orders had come in at once to the kitchen'. I would absolutely recommend this pub to eat at, but perhaps they need to stagger their booking times, or employ additional chefs, to avoid unnecessary waits.

   Food and drink as fantastic as always. Top notch! Love that they have a seasonal menu. The Spring menu is fab.

   I took my family for a meal out and felt that the service was ok, but the food was not a very good standard. The steak we had ordered was old, grey and grainy with a bitter aftertaste. One meal was sent back immediately but they didn’t take this off the bill. We spend a significant amount of money on relatively poor standard of food. Overall. The kitchen needs to improve.

   Staff are always cheerful and friendly. Food choices are varied and every meal I have there is excellent. Definitely my favourite for a lunch out

   "The Fishes has been our go-to spot for the past 20 years, and it never disappoints. We visited today for a birthday lunch, and as always, the food was exceptional, and the staff were friendly, polite and attentive. With the sun shining, we decided to sit outside on the decking area, which was lively and bustling, adding to the great atmosphere. A perfect experience, as always!"

   Enjoyable and friendly service and food could have been more hotter but can't complain the beef wasn't crispy on the edges it was not able be chewed and I love the fact that they offered more Yorkshire pudding and potatoes great value for money beautiful presentation friendly staff a lovely experience overall and beef was tender but just no crisp on the fat part and I would go again lovely piece beef otherwise just the edge I like crispy fat on edge of beef

   Excellent roast, meat beautifully cooked. Yorkshires, cauliflower cheese and stuffing were top class. Nice touch with the offer of extra pots & yorks. Would highly recommend

   Lovely location. Sunday roast was actually a little bland, the chicken gravy especially. Good portion though, not too large. Please also give the place a spruce up. The window sills needs repainting and the ladies toilets need a jet wash on the floor! Check behind doors & skirting for the build up of grime and poor paintwork.

    What a gem we found in The Fishes! This was our first visit to Oxford and was part of our stay in London. We booked a tour of the college for that afternoon and being that it was Sunday, I did not want to miss Sunday roast! The people - Amazing The food - Fantastic The ambiance - Exquisite My experience with pubs is limited to central London so I wasn't sure what to expect from a pub in the country side. The Fishes is really beautiful. The front portion of the building feels more pub-like and it expands into a full restaurant. The back room where we were seating was so inviting - it is bright and airy and beautifully decorated. Many people were seated outside enjoying the beautiful view. The people were so friendly and inviting. Uber was taking a long time to find a driver, so they called us a taxi who was there in a flash. They saved our tour of the University! Sunday roast was fantastic and my daughter RAVED about the venison shepherd's pie. She even took the rest to go. If we are ever fortunate enough to be near The Fishes again on a Sunday, I will surely turn up for Sunday roast!
