Right on the edge of The New Forest is The Forest Home, a warm and cosy retreat, filled with ambience, good company and proper, hearty British food. It’s a family-run establishment in the charming Southampton and Holbury suburb of Hardley and Billy, the head chef, doesn’t let anything leave his kitchen that he wouldn’t eat himself. Everything on the menu at The Forest Home is home cooked using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, and many of the vegetables are even grown in the allotment out back. To highlight any one dish off a menu so good is a sin, but we live on the edge, so take it from us that the roast lamb and the seared tuna are not to be missed. The Forest Home has comfy sofas by the fire or a picturesque outdoor area, and there’s regular events and special evenings. Fit for any occasion, we’re sure you’ll agree.
