Situated in the Red Rocks country 17 miles southwest of Denver on Hwy 285, The Fort is a true replica of Bent's Fort, (1833-1849), the first American fur trade post in Colorado. The Cheyenne, Arapahoe, Kiowa and Pawnee traded and intermarried at Bent's Old Fort, creating an economic and peaceful exchange of cultures in an otherwise violent West. The Fort building is on the National Registry of Historic Places, and celebrates the many cultures that traded at Bent's Old Fort. Our menu features "New Foods of the Old West" including the best cuts of buffalo, elk and quail, grilled to perfection. There are vegetarian options inspired by American Indian recipes including Corn Beans and Squash, known as the Three Sacred Sisters. The wine list is awarded the Wine Spectator each year, and the nine dining rooms, with intimate seating, has a 350 seat capacity, with real adobe "beehive "fireplaces that burn wood in the winter and fall months. I’ve been coming to The Fort for over a decade. It used to be my favorite restaurant to come to. This last time has greatly disappointed me. They brought us to our table and it wasn’t even setup yet and we had to wait while they were setting the table. The serving size’s have been greatly reduced. The meat I had was tough, it was even difficult to cut the meat with a steak knife. I requested extra anchovies on my Caesar salad, I received none at all, I had to request them again. A side of mushrooms that I’ve always enjoyed, was virtually tasteless. A chorizo bean dip that we ordered had no chorizo in it. I ordered a cocktail and couldn’t even taste the alcohol. I told the waiter to order me another one and to make sure there is alcohol in it. He said the first one had alcohol in it, I was shocked that he said it did, It tasted like some sweetened virgin drink. To top it off, the prices have gone up considerably. Pay more money, receive less food, food quality has reduced, cut back on the alcohol content and don’t receive your requests that were made the first time around, and a mandatory tip for the kitchen, which should be optional. I would like to add that I’ve invited friends, family, guest and business associates to dine with me there and I will no longer be extending that invitation to this restaurant. Very disappointing!!!

We were there for our anniversary, we have gone there many times. Previously, they gave us our choice of a dessert. This time, they gave us a crème brûlée (no choice) which is something I love. This crème brûlée was awful. Weirdest consistency I’ve ever had. And it was Egg Nog flavor which was meh… They should give you a choice. Maybe they just wanted to get rid of it. I still love The Fort.

Reservation was handled effectively, food quality and service both excellent. Pricey but expected, ambiance was excellent for the New Years dinner. For us a special occasion venue.

Great service, great food, and lovely ambience. We especially liked having drinks by the outdoor fire pit.

Food was not hot when it arrived. Butter not served with lobster and had to ask for it. It arrived in a brûlée bowl for the table??? Wait staff was at the mercy of the kitchen. Lots of food under heat lamps waiting to be delivered for people to walk by and galk at. Lobster was bland and I’ll not order again. We brought special guests and had talked up the restaurant and was disappointed in the food and temperature of it
