The George hotel is a beautiful 400 year old hotel, currently only used as a restaurant. Taken over in 2020, the restaurant is tastefully decorated, adourning wonderful photos of chepstow through the years. The menu boasts an array of fabulous dishes, from the traditional 'pub grub' with our 2 for £16 menu, to our in house dry aged Steaks, cooked to perfection by our chefs or brought out to you on our signature sizzling hot stones. On a Saturday evening, the restaurant comes alive with wonderful live music, starting off with a relaxed vibe whilst you finish off your meal, and a livelier second half to finish off your evening. Finish the week here on a sunday, where we have fast become the place to come for a sunday lunch, with rave reviews and recommendations across the board. With a vast drinks and food menu, the George is the ideal place to come, either for a relaxed lunch for two, an evening out with friends or a large family gathering.

    Lovely food, great service. The restaurant could of been a little warmer as we were sat in the back section. It felt a little chilly.

    This is our second visit to the George and unfortunately, I was disappointed this time. Although the staff were very friendly, the service was very slow. When the food did arrive, it was cold. The table that we were sitting at was also in a very cold part of the restaurant which made waiting for the food even more uncomfortable. The food itself wasn’t too bad, but just such a shame it wasn’t a more pleasant experience.

    Sunday roast - best around the area, vegetarian options and kid menu available. Staff very helpful and polite, great service

    Food amazing staff were friendly and efficient, would definitely recommend and will be back ,been twice now Sunday lunch and a Saturday night and both Sunday lunch and the steak were fabulous

    We went with our dog at 6pm following an afternoon walk along the river Wye. It was ideal. We ate in the conservatory as we had the dog. It was steak night and the waitress recommended The Tomahawk, steak for two people. It was fantastic. Well cooked and pink in the middle as we requested. The accompaniments were all good and well seasoned. It was too much for the two of us , so we took some home, and the dog loved the bone. First class food and a relaxed, informal setting. Will certainly return.

    Was pretty good overall. For Sunday lunch you pay £3 extra if you want roast lamb but if wasn't worth it as the lamb was overcooked and gristly. Everybody else's meal was fine though.

    Love the George, we’re new to it, will keep going back. Lovely staff, lovely food.
