The George on the Riverwalk is in the downtown area of Wilmington, North Carolina. A great location, along with the great food, have helped to make this a very popular eatery. You can find inside or outside seating right on the river. As one of the only dog friendly restaurants in the area, we welcome your furry friends! We provide heated decks in the winter as well as amazing views of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge, the USS North Carolina Battleship and amazing sunset views year around! Whether you choose to visit us by car or boat, we provide 3 hour parking vouchers for the lot across the street and have a 90ft floating dock located directly on the Cape Fear River!!

Visited for brunch. The mimosa flight was lack luster. The brie board was delish and a hit at the table, the tuna app was small, and the fried oysters Rockefeller appetizer is a deconstructed version of the classic but with the addition of chorizo. Our oysters were tragically overcooked and inedible so we requested a fresh order...the second order was delightful and cooked perfectly. It's disappointing that an establishment such as this would even let something so obviously overcooked out of the kitchen. My excitement and expectations to finally have a meal here were met with a bit of disappointment. We decided to cut our visit short and didn't go past the appetizers and initial cocktails. I hope this was an unusual occurrence for this establishment. I wouldn't discourage anyone to going but I also won't be returning as a customer.

We had a great experience at the George. We sat outside on the deck overlooking the Cape Fear River. We started with 2 delicious appetizers (crab dip and tuna)- our party of 5 each ordered a different entree and we were all very pleased with our meals. The desserts were great as well. The service was perfect. Our waitress was timely, nice and attentive. I would definitely recommend it to others.

We had reserved a high top in the bar as no dining room tables were available. It was a fine table at the end with a white table cloth & a comfortable chair. Becky G was a wonderful waitress & always checking on us. I had a tasty Delgado margarita. We enjoyed the Oysters Rockefeller but they were not served in the shell & very tiny. The Butter lettuce salad was very big & delicious; we shared it but couldn’t eat it all. My husband really enjoyed his Rack of Lamb & my scallops on risotto were good but the first one had grit in every bite. They insisted on making it over for me so I took it to go. If you ask they will give you a parking pass so you can park in the lot across the street. I would eat in the bar again as it was a nice table, good service & not noisy. They have enclosed the outside porch so eating out there should be fairly comfortable in the winter.

Excellent service and amazing food! The ambiance was so relaxing. The black bass and diver scallops were so delicious.

This was our first visit to The George (but not to downtown). We wanted to elevate our meal to celebrate our daughter's college Masters graduation. Our group of six did have a reservation in advance. Arrival was smooth, and we were seated promptly. It was a busy Saturday lunch setting. The service start was slightly delayed, but once greeted, we had our attendant's regular attention to ensure we were all set. We enjoyed sharable appetizers. The Brie dish was delicious, with amazing roasted garlic. The Crab Dip was warm and tasty. Calamari is always a challenge, yet the Calamari dish had excellent dipping sauces with some heat. Kudos to the kitchen, as the entrees (Black Bass, Salmon, Catfish sandwich, and one outlier with salad and chicken wings) were primarily empty plates at the conclusion and two take-home boxes. Our group agreed there would be return visits.

The food is very expensive for what you get. To order a salad you’ll pay $10 which is reasonable. To add a chicken breast, you’ll pay an additional $11. For a piece of chicken. To add a piece of salmon you’ll pay $17. While it’s a nice view, the food is not worth the asking prices. Even the Brie appetizer has hardly any flavor. Great place for a cocktail and a view of the water but that’s about it.

Everything about this dinner was AMAZING! We started with the Sweet Garlic Shrimp, which were delicious. For the main courses we chose the Seared Diver Sea Scallops and Black Bass. They were both AMAZING! The scallops were the best I’ve ever had. What really set this place apart from others on the riverwalk was the service. We dined and had drinks at the bar. Deon, our bartender was FABULOUS!! He was personable, knowledgeable, and efficient. He checked on us throughout our meal to make sure everything was perfect! This was our first visit to The George, but it definitely won’t be the last!

Service as excellent and the food was superb. The Black Bass was one of the best dishes we have ever had, anywhere.
