Afternoon Tea, a decades-long tradition at The Brown Palace, is set amid the historic grandeur of the Atrium Lobby serenaded by a melodic piano. Guests enjoy a pot of properly brewed English tea accompanied by scones served with Devonshire cream and preserves, savory tea sandwiches, and a delightful array of classic tea pastries.

Palace Bar is open Tuesday through Saturday evenings. Sip on classic cocktails, wine, or a refreshing pint with charcuterie and other inventive dishes. Live music by The John Kite Jazz Quartet will complete an unforgettable and lively experience.

Holiday Tea

$10.00 per person for Vegan and / or Gluten- Free. Parties of five or more, please choose a maximum of three teas. Complimentary second plate of sandwiches included. Twenty percent gratuity will be added for parties of five or more. We will not accept more than three credit cards per party, and the check will be split evenly.

      I’ve had tea many times over the years at the Brown Palace. I visited in early December and the experience wasn’t great- food blah, service not special and packed in like sardines. I had several reservations months out so knew that a second tea for the holiday season was on the horizon and thought my early December visit to be an isolated mediocre experience. I had another reservation for my niece today (1/5/25). The food was slightly fresher and better than I experienced during my visit a month prior, however, the service was lacking (our Champaigne and food had arrived but we waited a really long time following for our tea and when it was time to pay the bill we waited a really long time and finally put the card on the table and waited another 10 minutes more). The primary issue with today’s visit was the bitter cold. How sad that most patrons in their pretty dresses and special attire wore their outer coats as they enjoyed their $75-$110+ per person tea and treats. The atrium was freezing! How the Brown palace couldn’t find a space heater or two to place in the front valet entrance is beyond me. It was just freezing and so cold that it ruined the experience. Sadly, I’ll need to find another tea location as I don’t think the Brown Palace will be a consideration given my recent experiences.

      Beautiful place but just too cold in winter months for tea. If going make sure u bring a lap blanket. Very pretty but can be very cold unless you luck out on a warm day in December.

      Great holiday tea with lovely service and yummy food. However, during our meal, an employee began vacuuming near our feet and around the table next to ours...there were little to no visible crumbs so this cleanup was completely unnecessary. It was off putting to be eating while a vacuum was simultaneously stirring up fluff and dust. This ruined the ambience for our table and, I imagine, the other patrons' experiences as well.

      I was very disappointed with our experience at the Brown Palace for their Holiday Tea. I have had Tea there before and had great experiences, this time was not a good experience. Our table was placed between the servers station and the main staircase. They were on a 20 minute wait for our reserved table when we arrived. I don’t mind waiting, but because we were in the last seating of Tea, the whole staff was in a rush to finish their shift and flip the lobby area into the Bar setting. The server vacuumed the floor next to us, the piano player left and was replaced by the night band setting up which included a trumpet and drum set. As I stated before, we were seated next to the stairs outside the main lobby area. It seemed like we were forgotten about as the servers with designated sections rushed by us. My opinion, the Brown Palace accepted too many reservations, crammed too many tables in that space in order to make more money, and in that process they lost the ambience of the fine dining Afternoon Tea they were supposed to be providing.

      We were seated next to the cigar lounge and there was a smoke smell. Great atmosphere and service. It was expensive, but not unexpected for a unique experience.

      Our annual new year’s visit: Cons- they are running pretty late, for a 230pm reservation it was almost 3pm when we were seated. The table we had needs to be replaced and the front smoke kept wafting from the cigar room. The apricot scone was flat and dry, the sandwiches were tasty, but could use more filling, the macaron was dry and our cream was still frozen on the bottom half. Pros - The plain scone was divine and the shortbread with a cream topping was delicious. The seasonal decorations are always lovely and the pianist was exceptional today. The value is diminishing rapidly for this experience, which we do a few times a year. We may look elsewhere and that is a shame.

      We look forward to this annual tradition every year. It’s decorated beautifully for the holidays and we enjoy the whole experience.
