   The Highlawn is a beautiful restaurant with a spectacular view. I haven't been since the renovation and it looks wonderful, the staff is accommodating, and I would give it another try for a regular dinner. The Mother's Day brunch at $85/pp was overpriced at best. While there was a huge assortment of food, you cannot get quality for that price as the food sits steaming away with sterno underneath it, or cold bacon sitting in grease, or overdressed salads wilting away. The sushi was replenished repeatedly and was good quality, and while many things were tasty, I just thought that for that price, they could have at least included a glass of prosecco for the moms, a soft drink, something. $380 for brunch for 3 people, where there were only two drinks and one iced tea seems like an awful lot, and I truly have no problem paying for good food and a good setting. In addition, there was a keyboard set up in the main dining space. There's a baby grand piano in the foyer which would have been much more appropriate for the occasion. I am a musician by trade, and it's hard to avoid the inherent "cheesiness" of the sound of just an electric keyboard. The pianist was banging away playing an array of pop tunes that also seemed strangely inappropriate for a Mother's Day brunch. We actually had to ask for him to turn down as it was distracting and interfered with conversation, rather than enhancing the scene, as music is supposed to do.

   Overall experience was a bit disappointed for the price paid. Porterhouse was very good but accompanying French fries were disappointing. Service was below expectation for this type of venue. View over the city was amazing.

   I have been to Highlawn on multiple occasions and tonight it wasn’t up to their normal standards. When I made the reservation I requested a table by the window explaining that we were celebrating a birthday. I received a reply that a window table was confirmed and we would receive complementary Prosecco, neither of those things happened. When we got our food the mashed potatoes were cold. I don’t mind spending the money for dinner but I expect it to live up the standards of this type of restaurant.

   Had a table next to the window, great view! Nice assortment of food at the buffet. Service was very good. No complaints, nice ambiance, definitely an enjoyable experience.

   The highlawn was one of the last good places to go to, I used to dine out at the manor and since they closed the highlawn was the alternative, I have been going there for every occasion. But this time it was disappointing, from the start I knew the food it tasted different and I asked and I was told the chef was changed, the menu was small and the food had a twist to it in a bad way, anyway I would like to go back there again if things changed, I hope the owner of the place know to keep up with the name that I’m used to.

   Historic, iconic beautiful space. Sadly, they just refuse to make it atmospheric and it’s as STERILE as can be. A little jazz & proper lighting would go a looong way toward feeling like you are someplace you can actually enjoy. The place just feels like it’s closed yet you are there. As a restaurant consultant and a person growing up coming here there’s so much I’d love to see happen here that just isn’t.
