onion soup was poor. pumpernickel bread (or some other tough brown bread) was used instead of french bread. oysters were not enjoyable. sushi was ok. scallops were ok as well. nothing was really good. we've been here several times and the food was great. very disappointed at last night's meal.

It is always a great experience at The Highlawn. I have enjoyed every meal I have eaten there. It is the perfect place for date night or a business meal with important clients. The Highlawn is one of my favorite places to wine, dine, and entertain in north New Jersey.

Great experience. We had the Tomahawk and a nice bottle. Service was excellent amd the food was made to perfection.

We came to dinner to celebrate my husbands birthday, which was noted to multiple staff members and never acknowledged. While the ambiance was delightful and the service began well, after my husband received his soup there was an hour between its completion and our main course. We did not receive any service for that duration of that time and presumed there would be some recognition for my husband, which there was not. In spite of arriving early for our reservation, the restaurant was nearly closed by the time we left.

Time and time again I am never disappointed with the food and service I’ve experienced at The Highlawn. Everything from the view to the ambience to the food is just perfect. I love how the menu changes with the season. It’s like going to an amazing new restaurant every time.

This place was very good. the Ambiance was nice and the views were amazing. A few details away from being 4.5/5 stars. The Porter house was good but not great. It seemed like it sat out for longer than intended before being served. We will be back one day and hoping this place has jumped up a couple of notches.

Beautiful view, food was not good. The venue could use a refresh, from the scratches and stains in the menu, to the chipping paint on the walls, to the smell in the wine cellar, to the cobwebs on the ceiling.
