Michelin & James Beard-recognized Chef Ricardo Zarate has opened The Hummingbird Ceviche House featuring the Nikkei (Japanese-Peruvian) cuisine he’s best known for. In a charming space with a turquoise-quartz bar, The Hummingbird serves an irresistible bill of fare focused on fresh seafood prepared using traditional Nikkei techniques elevated by California influences. The Los Angeles Times' Laurie Ochoa wrote: "...the service is caring and the food, including an aji amarillo hummus flatbread and sesame-leaf-wrapped shrimp dumplings with tiger's milk aioli, is inventive and delicious. And...the Hummingbird is affordable." Diners delight in Nikkei hand rolls, delectable ceviches, small bites, hot dishes, desserts and house-made Chicha-Morada drinks. You can BYOB! Wish we had known this ahead of time, but the meal was outstanding, especially the scallop hand roll, the purple corn iced tea and the picarones for dessert. The service was friendly with just a few small delays because they were training new servers that night, but not a problem at all. Ambiance was lively and energetic. Highly recommend this place, we'll be coming back for sure.

From the food, the beverages, the ambiance and the service: 10’s across the board! We celebrated our wedding day with an intimate dinner and could not have wanted for anything better. Special thanks for Mark and Ricardo, we will be back often!

Loved the atmosphere and the food is out of this world! So lucky to have a place like this in our neighborhood! Also they allowed our yappy little dog!

Put 5 adults on a small 4 top (with reservation). Server got our orders wrong. Forgot one of our main dishes. Had to ask 2 servers 3 times for the last dish that was served after 4 of us were done. Small dog (no service dog markings) allowed inside the restaurant that was barking throughout our ENTIRE meal. Staff did nothing. Extremely irritating. Won’t be going back. Entire group agrees.

We keep coming back and the Hummingbird team keeps dazzling us with delicious dishes. A new dish for us was the miso cod tostada. The fish was melt in your mouth delicious and the jalepeno honey added a great kick. The whole team is really friendly and attentive. Definitely make a reservation as the word on this place is out.

Still thinking about the Chefs Creativity! Haven’t had this type of exceptional food in a long time! Absolutely delicious and I recommend the chefs tasting menu. Everything on the menu is delicious! Parking is difficult and no alcohol service.
