The Independent is an ingredient-driven, seafood restaurant and raw bar showcasing the Lowcountry's surrounding local fisherman, farmers, and purveyors. This was our first time dining at The Independent. My wife and I were staying at The George Hotel celebrating our birthdays. We were impressed with every aspect of service and food quality. Our server was attentive and pleasant. Each course was tasty and well presented. We have already made plans to return and bring friends!

It was excellent! Went for Thanksgiving! They offered a Thanksgiving Meal, which was excellent. I got the Filet Mignon, and it was amazing! Food, drinks, and desserts were all wonderful!

We had a wonderful time at The Independent. Service was top notch. Crab crawls are fantastic. We highly recommend this Georgetown gem.

Went for my daughter’s 22nd birthday. It was fabulous! We went a few months back for my wife’s birthday and had a great experience that time as well. Probably dined there half a dozen times. We are always pleased.

A very nice evening out while visiting Georgetown. We tried the deviled eggs with fried oysters, the breaded crab fingers, and the she crab soup and all were delicious. Entrees included the nicely-flavored shrimp and grits, the crab cakes, and filet. The multi-layered chocolate cake with ice cream was amazing and comped by the restaurant. We had a great time!

Took way too long to be served dinner. Servers need to be better trained. Food was good but not great.

The food was fabulous. Crab Salad was a generous portion and delicious, as well as the fried blue crab fingers and grilled oysters. The filet and pork chop were perfectly seared and the temperature was perfect. The crab cakes were good. Our server, Justin was not attentive. We asked for salt and pepper before our food came and he brought it when we had finished our meals. The other staff members waited on us more than he. Our previous experiences with the wait staff have always been outstanding. We will definitely be back.
