Come and enjoy a traditional English Country Inn In this beautiful 17th Century building right in the heart of the Cranborne Chase. A cosy location on the edge of the new forsest, a great place to stop after exploring the gorgeous local area. Amongst the wood burning stoves, cozy corners and sharing tables you will find spectacular hearty food from our daily-changing "30 mile menu" that is fresh, interesting and sure to please! We look after a great range of well-kept Real Ales, including a Guest Ale, brewed specially by Hall & Woodhouse. The Hall and Woodhouse Brewery is only 9 miles from The Inn. accompanying our friendly staff, great food and beverages, our Inn also boasts 9 rooms. Each of our rooms has been lovingly restored to feature large beds with snuggly duvets, a choice of pillows and fabulous en-suite bathrooms with powerful showers, some roll-top baths and Bramley products.

Having visited regularly, our Sunday lunch experience was not a pleasant experience. We did not get a warm welcome on arrival and we were shown to a table set for 4, there were only 3 of us. The extra setting was not cleared until after main meal had been taken away. When the roasts arrived our parsnips were raw and we were not approached to see how our lunch was and there were no staff nearby to catch their eye to complain. My husband had to go up to the bar and complain. New parsnips were brought out after we had all finished our roasts. No apology was forthcoming just a huff from the manager when we said they are too late as we had finished! A 10% service was added to our bill which my husband paid without checking so all in all a very dissapointing experience.

Food overpriced for what it is. Very long wait for food to arrive. Burger was very standard for the price. Didn't ask how I wanted it cooked and it arrived dry. Service charge of 10% included in the bill and not discretionary. Not going to revisit.

Roast beef was chewy and I couldn’t eat it. Manager kindly refunded this meal. Starters were okay and staff friendly. Was very basic pub food for a high price.

Very comfortable bar area with character. Food very tasty and well cooked. Service good. Would visit again.

We booked here by accident for a Bank Holiday Sunday evening. It was very busy and we arrived a little early. We weren't in a huge rush, but Paul the manager advised we order before a large group arrived nad ordered - how wise. It was a busy night and several turned up without booking - patiently Paul handled each one and advised how long they might be waiting. He was a master. Our food was excellent and we had a wonderful evening. Nadine who served us was responsive and good at her job.

Over priced,very basic standard menu badly cooked, obviously have issues with their kitchen team hopefully this is a temporary situation.

Every thing about our meal was great. Good food and good service. It was a pleasant surprise to find Moretti on draught which is my favourite Italian beer. The menu was not extensive which I think is a good sign as the chef can concentrate on a smaller range of dishes. We shall certainly come back.
