Roll up, Roll up, The Ivy Circus will be taking over our iconic venues this New Year's Eve. Poor show at the Birmingham restaurant. As I sat down to order a drink before our table, the young lady on the front desk aggressively asked me if I had a booking. I replied yes & gave her my name and reservation time. She told me to get out of my seat and make my way back to the desk. I asked her if she was serious and she told me it was protocol and I had to immediately move. I walked the 3 metres, repeated my name and time and was then allowed to go back to my seat where I’d ordered my drink. If it hadn’t of been my mother’s birthday meal I would have left there and then. Ben ( management) kindly gave me my drink on the house but I won’t be returning anytime soon. It doesn’t take much for a warm welcome and given the young lady wasn’t on the desk as I walked in I feel I was embarrassed for no reason whatsoever. One birthday meal ruined

The experience was average, the food was average, the service was average, The venue had nice decor but that was really the only positive thing I was able to say about the ivy.

Normally a great experience, however four of the six main meals were poor. The steaks were tough and with very little flavour, and the one fish meal was quite dry! This is very unusual as this is a regular for us.

From the moment we walked through the door we were look after. The service continued to be spot on throughout the evening. The food was great, the wine was great, what more could you ask for!

Not as good as previous visit. Price increases are noticeable, as is the deterioration in the kitchen’s technical skill. I won’t hide my disappointment.
