The Lexington is more than a restaurant, it’s an institution. Located on the corner of Lexington Parkway and Grand Avenue, this St. Paul community was the most fashionable at the turn of the 19th century. The St. Paul elite lived just blocks away and the first electric trolley brought visitors up and down Grand Avenue. The Lexington opened in 1935, after the end of prohibition, and was a popular neighborhood bar to gather and socialize. Previously operating as a speakeasy, the expansive wood panels were perfect for hiding a little booze and one can only imagine the shenanigans going on beyond the hidden staircase behind the coat check. For decades following, The Lex, as it’s called by locals and enthusiasts alike, was the place to be seen; business dealings, cocktail hours, and milestone celebrations were a regular occurrence for St. Paul socialites.

                                                                                                                                        The Lexington is a top tier restaurant with an impeccably trained staff that are as attentive as any in town. The food is always excellent and the atmosphere is upscale and comfortable. It has formal dining rooms as well a very nice lounge and rooms for private events/dinners. We took our whole family there for a holiday dinner and the ambiance, service and food made it a special night for my group.

It is not easy to pull off; so much can go haywire with kids and parents/grandparents. Food, service and of course Santa was first rate.

                                                                                                                                        Bartender was rushing our group to hurry and finish our drinks right after he served the. Asked the bartender to take a picture and he tells us to "hurry up". Patrick was just a jerk from start to finish. The GM addressed it however we'll never go back. Dinner server was excellent.

Attentive staff and excellent food! We were celebrating our child’s 10th birthday, and the staff made it an event. We will be back soon! The Lexington never disappoints.
