The Lexington is more than a restaurant, it’s an institution. Located on the corner of Lexington Parkway and Grand Avenue, this St. Paul community was the most fashionable at the turn of the 19th century. The St. Paul elite lived just blocks away and the first electric trolley brought visitors up and down Grand Avenue. The Lexington opened in 1935, after the end of prohibition, and was a popular neighborhood bar to gather and socialize. Previously operating as a speakeasy, the expansive wood panels were perfect for hiding a little booze and one can only imagine the shenanigans going on beyond the hidden staircase behind the coat check. For decades following, The Lex, as it’s called by locals and enthusiasts alike, was the place to be seen; business dealings, cocktail hours, and milestone celebrations were a regular occurrence for St. Paul socialites.

Our server, Shawn, and his team were great! A great recommendation for a quiet evening with delicious food and excellent service. We will definitely dine here again.

                                                                                                                                        Although extremely busy, our reservations for 6 were readily handled. Wide selection of wines, beer and cocktails; ours were enjoyable. Wait staff was professional, skilled, and graciously satisfied all special requests. Food, especially our turkey dinners, we're delectable. I recommend The Lexington for any special event or delicious meal prepared better than homemade. Thanks for working on Thanksgiving!

We were celebrating a birthday and our server said they would make our birthday celebration special. But they never did. No birthday dessert or anything. ☹️

                                                                                                                                        The only reason why I checked the food was good and not outstanding was because the Gorbachev whitefish which my wife had tasted like it was in the freezer too long.

The extra attention to our friend whose birthday we were celebrating made the evening and our meal extra special. The decor--especially the bathroom--were classy! Thank you for all your thoughtful attention and very fine meal!!
