North Scottsdale’s heart beats to a Latin drum at The Mission at Kierland Commons where renowned Chef Matt Carter (Zinc Bistro and Fat Ox) brings a modern twist to Latin cuisine blending influences from Spain, Mexico, Central America, and South America.

Sip a signature margarita with unique flavors such as cucumber jalepeno or aguacate (yes, we said avocado) as you watch your Tableside Guacamole made to your taste from more than a dozen fresh ingredients.

Home made tortillas, sauces, and salsas are made fresh daily to accompany an assortment of meats and seafood prepared on a Plancha or a grill using pecan and mesquite wood that instills a rich flavor. Plus save room for dessert including our pumpkin bread pudding or espresso churros.

                                                                                                          Overall it’s a nice restaurant, all employees very nice. We were a party of 6 and tucked in corner. The food was good and the waiter nice but he did forget a few things. Had to ask twice for sour cream, twice for a glass of wine which came when almost through with meal, and he forgot the Brussel sprouts, the only thing we didn’t like was the drinks ….5 adults and none of us liked our drinks!!

                                                                                                          The only great service we encountered was our bus boy and the bartender. The table server and hostess were apathetic at best about welcoming us and accommodating our group due to the heavy wind and the torrential down pour (it wasn’t possible to sit outside). Our amazing bus boy was able to move our group successfully inside to seats at the upper bar. The bartender was great! The hostess was unaccommodating, and our original table server was also extremely uninterested in helping us. I don’t think we would return, and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who asks me.

                                                                                                          We sat on the patio on a beautiful evening. Our experience was enhanced by our excellent waiter, Dillon. The food and drink were on the mark.

                                                                                                          The Mission is a favorite and I always visit when in Scottsdale. A few things detracted from this particular meal - the server was loud and a bit snarky, and the “upsell” was annoying (“you only get 3 small tacos, do you want 4?” - and then we all left the 4th one because it was too much food). Music is too loud for real conversation. Still a great place with excellent food.
