Open Table bookings are for our Restaurant area only and not for bar drinks. We are a public house & restaurant shrouded in history, 1696 being our first year!! Located in Temple Bar in the heart of the City Centre.                                                                                             I turned up to find out there was no reservation for me, even though I had it confirmed on Opentable. The restaurant wasn't open at the time I was booked in for (2:30pm), and the staff at the bar didn't know what reservation I would be talking about. I found a seat at the bar, and had a decent meal, but just a warning that the reservations may not be accurate!

                                                                                            Food was decent but the wings we got were not marinaded well. It tasted of barbecue on the skin but wasn’t necessarily seasoned “to the bone”. Could have been better. Also, I got a woo woo and sex on the beach, they weren’t as strong as I would have liked. They were a little light. Also, would be great if margaritas were added to the menu. Decent enough value for money and very nice ambience. We got a view of the street (temple bar) with a view of the quays also. So nice little window view. Balanced between calm and vibrant as you can hear the music coming from downstairs which helps so the restaurant isn’t too quiet on a Saturday evening. A chill bar restaurant. Would still come back due to ambience .

                                                                                            This restaurant is above a very noisy bar in the temple bar area, however the noise level was manageable in the restaurant. It’s dimly light and warm. The menu wasn’t large but the quality of both our food dishes was beautiful. The curry was one of the nicest I have tasted.

I had chosen the restaurant by reading their menu of this site which had lovely vegetarian options unfortunately that is not their current menu, the new menu had none of the lovely veggie options which was disappointing. The staff were so pleasant and its a lovely restaurant very relaxing atmosphere

                                                                                            Had high expectations for the Norseman and was a little disappointed by the experience. The menu they have online is more extensive than what we got on the day - they didn't have the Irish stew pie, just the stew, and the desserts were limited and missing the peach and pear cobbler I wanted to try. The ambience of the restaurant was quite nice but it was very dark to the point its really hard to read the menu. But it was quite good that the sounds from the pub area downstairs didn't travel up to the restaurant much. There was a problem with our starters that one of the dishes was apparently not included in the order when printed to the kitchen while the rest went though. It was a little odd and left some of the members of our party without food for the first while. I do wish that the waiters noticed this discrepancy (as they had given us side plates for the missing dish) but it was only when we brought it up that they noticed. They were quite apologetic and gave us free dessert for the mistake but I did wish they were a bit more proactive about it when it was clear there were dishes missing when the starters came out. As for the food itself, it was grand but nothing to write home about. The steaks were quite standard and their chicken was nice. The chicken portions could stand to be a bit more and could use a bit more sauce. The cheesecake and the gataeux were quite nice for dessert.

The food was served in an attractive manner and both dishes were delicious. We were very happy that we chose the Norseman in an area where restaurants are plentiful.
