The Oakfield is set in a stunning property at the heart of Chester Zoo, making this a truly unique contemporary British pub.

With pride and passion we’ll be serving freshly prepared locally sourced food and hand-picked beers, wines and spirits. The Oakfield has been lovingly restored and our new garden room offers incredible views of our award winning gardens.

So, whether you are enjoying a day at the zoo or want to pop in for lunch you’ll get a warm welcome from our team.*

    The service was excellent by people who were very polite and friendly. Each course arrived quickly and was at the right temperature. The quality of the food was very good and worth the money. I would definitely come here again.

    We got there a bit early and we were accommodated no problem . I forget to mention my daughters peanut intolerance on the booking so they freshly prepared more sandwiches without hesitation. Food and service were excellent would definitely recommend and we are looking forward to booking another visit .

    We had a email from the Oakfield saying there was an offer for 2 for 1 for meals until 6th January. Today at The Oakfield the waitress said the offer does not include Sundays, there was nothing on the email stating that you can’t use it on Sundays. We think that you should be clear and open about your rules so people are not caught out and embarrassed when expecting a deal and being disappointed.

    Such a beautiful building. Amazing ambiance and far more reasonable than I was expecting! Highly recommend the starter camembert.

    Although the venue itself is lovely and the staff are very friendly, the food is not great. We ordered 2 steak burgers and chips, both of which were cold and overcooked. My daughter had the hummus and flatbread but the veggie sticks looked like they’d been sitting around for days as did the hummus. We sadly won’t be visiting for food again.

    Fabulous food and service as always! Fresh ingredients and flavourful dishes, you really get more than what you pay for. Highly recommended for those who want a quality meal without breaking the bank.

    5 items on the menu had sold out ! The Menu was already limited but to arrive and be seated and the first thing to be told is we don’t have the pork we don’t have the lamb we don’t have the tortilla chips we don’t have pigs in blankets isn’t the best start

    The food was delicious but our table hadn’t been cleaned or set-up with the right cutlery. Staff weren't clear about the closing time of the pub. Our booking was at 2pm, when we arrived they told us that the “Zoo” was closing at 3.30pm. This wasn’t really enough time for a three course meal. At 3pm we asked a staff member what time the “pub” was closing. She replied: the pub is no longer serving food but open for drinks until 10 pm that evening. To my understanding this ment that we weren’t rushed to leave as they were still open and serving drinks. At 3:33 pm a manager/staff member came over and abruptly asked us to leave. We had no objection to leaving but as paying customers it was unfair that we were told “if you’re quick” was there response when we asked to use the bathroom before we left. If someone had explained to us that we need to be out of the pub by 3.30pm we would’ve happily obliged but we didn’t appreciate being treated with such rudeness. Especially when their staff had been so incompetent.
