For those who love their afternoon teas fresh, fragrant and steeped in history, Palm Court at The Drake Hotel serving tea for over a century. Even the Queen and Princess Diana have made their royal visits here. Your afternoon tea begins with Palais de Thes menu, which features 15 tea blends including classic selections like the English Breakfast to modern yet delightful twists like the Mélange du Cap.
Tea is served in individual tea pots accompanied by the traditional three tiered tea tray filled with an arrangement of gourmet finger sandwiches and scones; and dainty petit fours with complements of preserves, lemon curd and English double Devon cream.
And let’s not forget about our little tea. The Prince & Princess Afternoon tea service, suitable for children between 3 and 12 years of age is available throughout the duration of afternoon tea service.
Reservations are heavily encouraged.

Holiday tea in Palm Court is a Real Chicago tradition for generations of families during the holiday season. A seating in Palm Court places you near the iconic fountain adorned with holiday flora and overlooking the lobby Christmas tree and gingerbread display, guests will sip quintessential tea while reveling in the spirit of the season. A live harpist will play for all seating times, with holiday carolers performing on select dates through Christmas. Reservations are heavily encouraged. Sip quintessential tea experiencing Real Chicago tradition at The Drake Hotel this Holiday Season. Adjacent to Palm Court, CLUB INTERNATIONAL evokes Real Chicago holiday tradition with a backdrop of rich color and copper hues, to ignite the spirit of the season overlooking the hustle & bustle of Michigan Avenue. Very disappointed in the entire tea service. For 2 people, we had 1 Bellini each and the high tea service and our total was over $200. While I normally wouldn't care about the price, the service and quality of the experience did not match the bill. In terms of the food, the quality was quite poor. The scones were small and dry, the sandwiches were mostly just bread with little on them, and one of the desserts was burnt and inedible. The environment was chaotic and not what you'd expect from a higher end experience. The tables were crammed together, the chairs were uncomfortable and looked like something you'd rent for an event, and it was incredibly warm. For the service, each patron is only provided one plate, and all tiers of the service were served at once, so there was no room on the table. For the price point, this was not worth it. I would not recommend this venue, and suggest The Drake focus on the customer experience more.

First time here for tea time. The ambience definitely amazing and beautiful for Christmas. Such a peaceful experience.

Poor service. Especially for paying $79 per person. Have been there several times and this felt like it is too expensive for the experience.

We love coming during the holidays for our annual tea time. It’s extra special now having our daughter join us. This visit was not as outstanding as previous visits; but it doesn’t mean we won’t come back. Tea time at the Drake is special, memorable, and worth the splurge!

The ambience was beautiful, but the service was surprisingly poor and nothing like we’ve experienced in the past when we’ve come for afternoon tea. Christine seemed particularly put out by any question we asked or request we made. A whole group of staff said good bye and happy new year to us while she stayed silent. We were a party of six and all commented on her unpleasant demeanor. I know from past experience that the staff is wonderfully spirited and eager to help. Christine was not.
