While Tamworth is widely known as the capital of Australian country music, it’s not often celebrated for its restaurant scene. However, this venue has changed all that.

Housed within one of the town's most iconic heritage buildings is The Pig and Tinderbox.

Proudly part of The Central Hospitality Group, this innovative modern restaurant tends to be packed out most nights with tropical decor and a menu that focuses on sharing. There is also an impressive drinks list with plenty of craft beers and cocktail jugs on offer.

The unusual name harks back to the old-school pubs of the past, but "The Pig" (better known to the locals) is something that will be sticking around well into the future.

Service was friendly. Atmosphere was great. One of the meals was incorrect (table of six but it wasn’t a super busy night) and main meals (apart from a hamburger) were tiny! Nice food - not exceptional. Mocktails were a chocolate milkshake, a smoothy and a red cordial that was so sweet it had to be watered down to be drinkable. Mocktails should look and taste like cocktails without the alcohol. Still a nice experience but not exceptional.

Food Was Devineeeee, yummy and fulling. Anyone who loves food as much as I do, you will love this place and the experience was amazing 😍 Would definitely recommend coming here worth every dollar and cent 🙌 The atmosphere was beautiful apart from my noisy shoes clicking and clacking around their beautiful flooring. Service was flawless and friendly, and thank you to the guy to knocked on wood for me 😅 cause right after that the rest of my group showed up. Even though we were late I do really appreciate the time that was taken to accommodate us. Will most likely come back for the next event that shall be held. Oh and the other couple that had come really enjoyed the experience as well

The food is always absolutely tremendous. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, however the service could’ve been improved - we did go on 26/1 which is the tail end of TCMF so we recognise that the team would be exhausted after a big festival! Is it expensive, yes, but is it worth it - yes.

Menu is not as published on the website both before the date and checked after that booking. Very dissatisfied and would not recommend this restaurant and would not eat there again.

Hi Andrew, thank you for visiting the Pig & Tinder Box and for the 4 stars on service and ambience. Our apology that the full menu was not available over the Tamworth Country Music Festival (TCMF). We operate a slightly reduced menu during TCMF, and this is published on our website as TCMF 2025 Menu, we also display it at the front of the building. I appreciate that you were disappointed the full menu wasn't available however the slightly reduced menu provides 80% of the normal menu. The menu is reduced slightly to ensure that we can accommodate the extra demand and provide our usual level of service, when we are serving triple our normal customers. Our sincere apology once again and hope that you enjoy the rest of your experience in Tamworth.

Service was a little Tardy considering the amount of staff. Had a great variety of food but not the best value for money. but certainly a lovely place to meet with friends.

My wife and I were passing through Tamworth on our 32nd wedding anniversary so we stopped for the night and booked a table for two. I mentioned on the booking we were celebrating our 32nd anniversary. When we arrived we were greeted by the the very friendly staff and shown our table where they had put a plate with hand written chocolate “Happy anniversary” with a complimentary Old Fashioned cocktail. The meal was brilliant, and the staff were fantastic and attentive. It was a pleasure to be there, thank you everyone.
