   Our food was fantastic and arrived promptly! We arrived at an odd time, so it was very quiet. We loved the amazing gift shop! All of the employees were super friendly and made sure to help my son with his ghost hunting! We loved the tour of the historical venue!

   I thought this place would be a little more kid friendly than it was. They did have pirate hats but they don't have crayons to color on the kid's menus with despite there being games. Service was not great. Our server listed off the beers on tap and when asked what kind of beer they were she said "I don't know, it's a yellow color". My son has a sensitivity to artificial food dyes so we asked if there was dye on the strawberry mix for a smoothie, she relied with "I don't know" and just stood there. This is not something I would expect her to know, but I would expect her to offer to check with the bartender. I did ask if she would go check so she did. The food was just OK. I ordered the sirloin caprese salad and didn't care for it much, my mom ordered the chicken caprese sandwich and thought it was just OK.

   We visited the Pirates house for the experience of eating in the old home. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits, which was just OK. As he said he won’t do that again. The buffet had some good items and some that were not so good and some that needed to be refreshed. The collard greens, stewed, okra, and fried chicken wore my favorites. The canned green beans were like mush. Some of the other items had been on the heat trays way too long. The biscuits and cornbread with the orange marmalade were very good. The service was excellent.

   The Grand Buffet is always a treat and this was no exception. Despite the crowd we did not really have to wait in long lines for food. We were seated before our reservation time. Our waiter kept our drinks filled.

   Normally love the menu items. Grand buffet on Mother’s Day as a disappointment. Set up was lovely but prime rib was over barbecued and items that are popular like the shrimp and grits and banana pudding were served in the tiniest of vessels so that you had to eat them with a tiny cocktail spoon. 1/3 of the buffet seemed to be charcuterie and most of the dessert items seemed to come out of a package versus being prepared in the restaurant. Won’t be making that mistake again. The only thing that impressed me to the layout of the tables for the buffet. Definitely was overpriced.

    Fun place to visit, not culinary delight. We were there to see historical value and it did not disappoint. Had a party of four with two Savannah residents. We requested the location based on historical value. Our server was personality + and on spot. Fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese, excellent! Overall, food was 7 of 10. Two orders of shrimp and grits were inconsistent, good but different. “World famous fried chicken” was good. Behind scenes tour was interesting, we just wanted to see “the tunnel”….that made it worth it. Box checked, and you should too.
