   We attended The Rise as part of a family birthday celebration and were looked after throughout by Mille. A birthday card from the team was waiting at our table, which was a thoughtful touch. The chefs were able to cater for different dietary requirements and allergies, with one member of the group having a vegan afternoon tea. We had lovely views of the city walls and finished our visit with a trip to the rooftop apiary.

   Had the most amazing afternoon tea served in The elegant Rise Restaurant. The staff were friendly and attentive and the afternoon tea was imaginative and plentiful. It not only looked wonderful, but had real depth and flavour. I can highly recommend a visit to The Grand in York.

   I had fillet steak for main course, cooked to perfection & my wife had prawn & lobster tagliatelle, which she also enjoyed very much.

   Food was lovely. We went for afternoon tea which was really nice but found it impossible to catch someone’s eye to ask for the jam and cream for our scones which meant that although they were served lovely and warm. They were cold by the time we gave up on trying to get staff to come to us and went to them. It was promptly delivered with an apology. Then after being told twice that we could try all the different teas and coffees again impossible to order more without going up to a member of staff. However tea wasn’t promptly served this time and had to ask twice. One error is acceptable but not having to chase staff. Had booked an overnight stay for our anniversary later in the year as a special treat but will be spending my hard earned money else where now due to such poor service.

   We visited York on our tour and wanted a true English Afternoon Tea, we were delighted with the experience we had. The service was amazing, explained our experience so we could enjoy every minute. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was spot on. It met every expectation we had.

   Every member of staff we had contact with were extremely courteous and helpful nothing was too much trouble ( even faced with an Allergy + wheelchair ) which made our special occasions all the more special . The Afternoon Tea was just exquisite . An experience that will stay a treasured memory . Thank you to you all ❤️

    Food was excellent and the service was the same. Attentive staff without being overly so. We had two of the mocktails and they were lovely. The soup and salmon were excellent and well portioned. Originally we were just going to have a starter and main but it was so delicious we also had a dessert. Again excellent quality and good portion sizes.
