Set on Mitchell Hill, a medieval route from the city of Truro to the East, in a quiet, historical quarter, The Rising Sun is the hub of the local community and a destination for visitors to the county. Surrounded by charming lanes with views to the cathedral, diverse historical buildings, an abundance of trees and greenery.
Seven years ago Katie & Tom Hannon stepped into a very dark and sad shell of a pub. An overwhelming amount of work paled into insignificance against the excitement at what they thought could be created in this out of the way building with a very long and interesting history. A lot of hard labour ensued to create their vision of showcasing the best qualities of a modern pub; seamlessly combining carefully sourced, sophisticated yet familiar food and drink in a welcoming authentic pub environment. Elegant, delicious food alongside fantastic local beers, unusual wines and a great array of craft spirits all wrapped up in a relaxed atmosphere.

Outstanding, from the attention to detail from the members of the staff to the succulent most delicious food. They really know how to create a lovely atmosphere and deliver food with upmost care and truly packed with flavours, well worth every single penny. Favourite venue

As ever a great meal. The food is always excellent and the staff very attentive. Wines are well priced with some excellent choices available. Our No.1 choice in Truro by a country mile.

We had a family gathering today for lunch to celebrate Christmas , the roast beef and turkey was so delicious, all of my family enjoyed starter to desert. Plates were hot, food hot, plenty of vegetables and super delicious cauliflower cheese. Thank you for making Christmas special.

Enjoyable meal, puddings were a bit disappointing, wrong drink came out, table not cleared and a bit of a wait for drinks to come out but on the whole a very nice evening

Warm,friendly,cosy,stylish pub. Great food,helpful staff. Looked after our table for seven people beautifully. Ten out of ten, couldn’t ask for more. 😊 👏

Absolutely OUTSTANDING!!!! This was our first visit to celebrate a family birthday and we will definitely be back! Decorated beautifully for Christmas with wonderful trees and lights, the atmosphere was very homely and cosy. Waitresses were fab, really engaging and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Food was beautiful, one of the best roast dinners I’ve ever eaten! All in all FANTASTIC! What a find!
