The Ritz on Union has a traditional heritage while bringing a modern flair. We pride ourselves on providing a good sense of value with exquisite taste, presentation, and ambience. We offer Italian Continental dishes, inherent to our Sicilian background, with gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options for the most discerning of tastes, and our desserts are simply scrumptious. Enjoy cocktails and drink specials at our full bar.

During the pandemic of 2020, we demolished the old dining room portion of our facility and transformed it into The Ritz on Union. We styled a restaurant having a contemporary look, and focused the menu and service to provide the very best food and dining experience that Schenectady has to offer. In addition, we present the newest options for parties and gatherings, formal and work functions, and life events like showers, weddings and anniversaries. We can accommodate up to 65 people in our beautiful dining room.

We had reservations for 6pm and arrived at 550. There was one large party of about 15 and two other tables occupied. We were seated promptly. The waitress delivered us the menus and came back wothin 5 min to take our drinks orders. We informed her we were ready to order as well. We ordered the meatballs al forno for an app and shrimp ragu and tre mer li for dinner. As we enjoyed our wine the restaurant became busier and another couple was seated next to us. They two ordered drinks and dinner. Patiently we waited for our app as we saw our neighbors receive their dinner. Finally at 620 our app came our - it was warn but not hot and we were hungry so we finished them quickly. We then waited again patiently for our dinner while the table who arrived after us paid their bill and left. Around 645 our dinners finally came out, on e again warm even thought the waitress used a towel . We finished rather quickly and at 7pm was presented with the dessert menu. I figured dessert is usually quick, and how long could the ricotta zeppoli take. Well ny 715 we asked for our dessert to go, it was the first time we said anything and she stated “I just yelled at them back there’. Food was mediocre to say the least and it was pricey. And by the way another group was seated next to us where the previous patrons were and they were already eating their appetizer and enjoying their drinks with 15 min of being seated

The food was delicious. Our server was lovely, but the appetizers came out with the dinners, and timing was off. Drinks took a long time to get to the table.

The "Ritz on Union" in Schenectady reminds me of a typical NYC small restaurant. Nice breezy decor and a welcoming, friendly atmosphere. My wife and I went with a couple of friends for lunch and sat at a nice double table at the back of the restaurant. Good, but small menu. I had an appetizer of mussels in a broth with crostini - delicious. My wife had the eggplant parmigiana - she also thought hers was wonderful. I tasted it and it was. Food prices were very reasonable. Service was excellent. The one negative were the wine prices - I paid $12 for a medium size glass of sauvignon blanc.

We went there to celebrate our friend’s retirement after seeing a show at Proctor’s. The ambiance was wonderful and our waiter Shane took great care of us. The food was delicious and Shane sang for my friend who was retiring. The dessert came out with candles on it. I will definitely be returning!

Service was good but food was very slow to come out. Waited so long for our appetizers that our dessert was comped. One of the appetizers, after having waited 30 minutes for it had to be sent back because it tasted like freezer burn. Chicken Parmesan was very good, and so was the sauce although pasta was a tad overcooked. The strawberry shortcake dessert was amazing.

Excellent salmon and risotto along with garlic butter basted steamed clams. Crème brûlée was outstanding

Hospitality and customer service was great. The owner made sure everyone was comfortable and having a great experience. The food was really good with great flavors. Drinks were top notch. Overall, I had a great time and pleasant experience.
