“Almost Four Decades of Desert Dining Excellence continues under a new helm”.

As the former owner of the Adobe Garden Hotel and Irongate Restaurant in Palm Desert, Cunard’s in La Quinta, Robert Cunard’s in Palm Desert, and The Prevue in Rancho Mirage, Robert Cunard’s reputation as a restaurateur is well-established in the Coachella Valley.

He rebuilt the Sandbar, and has remained true to his tradition of quality cuisine and impeccable service.

Robert will pass the Helm of The Sandbar to Waldo Cesoni, a local seasoned Restauranteur who is already serving the Coachella Valley with Waldo’s Ristorante and Backstreet Bistro on El Paseo.

“Bob and I share the same passion for taking care of our guests and treat every one as family”, The Sandbar will continue with the same philosophy and culture for many more years to come.

Bill Baker playing music starting at 6:00PM ~ Tuesday through Saturday.

The Sandbar is always an experience! It is a shining relic of the Rat Pack days, proof that good food & service never go out of style! The servers are exceptional, so considerate of what may or may not make diners comfortable or happy. The food is very good to great depending on the dish - you can’t go wrong with the Dover sole, fried chicken or the duck. Bill Baker in the bar always puts on a fun show that takes you back in time to when SM didn’t exist and piano bars ruled, and he manages to engage younger folks with old school takes on more contemporary songs, as well. The martinis are strong, the crowd is well worth watching, and the vibe is happy.

The sandbar is one of our favorites and we go every couple of months. This time my 81 year-old father was in town for Thanksgiving and we took him to celebrate his birthday. Flawless and amazing experience as always! He can’t stop talking about how great of a time he had at the sandbar!

Another amazing dinner at the Sandbar. It become my wife and my favorite restaurant. Food is always perfect and they pour a great drink. 🌵🍸

The SANDBAR is one of the desert's most iconic places. It is a blend of great ambiance, wonderful food, excellent service and outstanding entertainment. It's a "must" for anyone who appreciates an excellent dining experience. Last evening was no exception. The Brown Butter Sole and Seafood Pasta entrees were large and delicious and cooked to perfection. Add to the dinner the very enjoyable entertainment and you don't want to leave but you know you will return soon.

Prices keep climbing like most other restaurants but the food and service continues to be outstanding. The noise level was high on a Saturday night so we had trouble hearing across the table, but we all loved our evening. Our waitress suggested we two girls split our chosen entree as it was as quite large. Wow! Of course we gave her a big tip. The guys loved their duck dinner. Valet only, so you can wear those cute but cruel shoes as you get dropped off at the door 🤩

Great traditional restaurant captures the essence of the valley. Great staff attentive and engaging. There was no rushing of us. We enjoyed the live piano. Food was very tasty with nice portions with a nice presentation. Desert was great hey lime pie. While we didn’t do the cobbler this time, I highly recommend it.
