Established in 1985, and located on Raglan Street, just off Princess Square in the heart of Harrogate, The Tannin Level is one of Harrogate's best loved and most renowned restaurants. Known for its wines (its name is a wine term after all!) as well as its food, it has garnered an enviable reputation amongst the towns sophisticated 'foodies'. The Tannin Level has a certain style and an unmistakable elegance, and its many original features combine to create the unique Tannin Level ambience.
The food is modern British with a Tannin Level twist, utilising only the very best seasonal ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible. As you might expect, all our food is freshly prepared by our chefs, which also means that if you have any special requirements, we can usually oblige. We loved last evening. Everything from food to service to atmosphere was perfect. Would definitely recommend Tannin Level and the Early Bird Menu was excellent.

A lovely restaurant in a relaxed environment. The food was outstanding along with an extensive wine list. The service was absolutely first class from the moment you entered. Will definitely visit again to try more of the delicious presented food.

Excellent service particularly by Matthew, a very friendly and helpful young waiter who had a bit of banter! The food was good value ( early doors menu ) and the four of us really enjoyed our starters - the pate and the fishcake. The main course was slightly disappointing as the chunky chips with the fish were undercooked and the chicken was a bit overcooked and therefore a bit tough . The chefs we understand, were under a considerable amount of pressure trying to get food out to a table of 14 which may account for the quality of the food being less than is usually the case when we’ve been before . The ambience was very pleasant and we enjoyed our get together in this delightful venue .

We’ve been coming here for many years. We often have the Early Bird which we find extremely good value. The little embellishments and some of the ingredients are nice touches considering the price point. So nice, too, to see quality and not quantity on the plate.The staff are always friendly. So lovely to have this independent, in Harrogate, which has so many chains, which we avoid, having tried some of them, in the past, including some that, hardly surprisingly, closed. We hope Tannin Level continues to thrive in these difficult times for small businesses, and shall continue to support them.

Great place to eat lunch or dinner the staff are amazing nothing to much trouble. One of the best Sunday Roasts in Harrogate.

Our first visit to this restaurant and will definitely return . The service and food was great . No complaints at all . We all had a roast and throughly enjoyed it . The meat was very tender and vegetables were cooked to perfection, not forgetting the gorgeous cauliflower cheese . So yummy …..

This was our first time and it certainly won’t be our last. Had a lovely birthday lunch. We chose from the lunchtime special menu which had lots of variety to choose from and is exceptionally good value. Each dish was beautifully cooked and presented (loved the added sparkler in my dessert because it was my birthday). Service was excellent, attentive but not over the top and not rushed. Ambiance for a lunchtime just after New Year was great, plenty people in which tells you what a gem it is. Thank you for making my birthday so enjoyable. When we are next in Harrogate we will certainly return.

Outstanding food quality and presentation. Lovely venue and service. Excellent choice of dishes and all were absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend and look forward to returning.
