                                                                          Place was awesome. Food was great. Tom our waiter was excellent. We especially liked the She Crab Soup and the Chilean Sea Bass. The band that is now going to be there every Friday/Saturday and their female singer were great.

                                                                          We arrived on a rainy Saturday. We have reservations for 5pm but know the restaurant opens at 4pm. We waited outside because we arrived early and they opened promptly at 4pm as expected. The host opening / holding the door for us had zero personality and barely spoke which was a disappointing first encounter. However, our bar server was nice. The oysters come with a great sauce and are good. The shrimp cocktail is delicious and the shrimp are sizeable. The calamari is soft fried and good. Sometimes calamari can "taste like the sea" but not in a good way. These were good. The ambiance is just as pictured online. This is still December so there are Christmas trees and decor everywhere which is a nice touch in addition to the regular decor. There is music playing and there is someone setting up the stage for a band to play later I assume seeing as how they have live music.

                                                                          Food was first rate. Absolutely loved the physical building and decor - a modified 19th century tobacco warehouse!

                                                                          We made a reservation for out of town guests weeks in advance. Unfortunately, the restaurant sat our party of 8 into a very small room with a round table. It was uncomfortably tight and claustrophobic. We asked to be moved and were told there was nothing available. The food was only okay and overpriced. I would not recommend this restaurant based on our experience.

                                                                          The staff were very accommodating when I needed to add to the number of guests. I spoke directly with them after the OpenTable app would not allow the change. That was greatly appreciated! Our seating was a cozy circular table but in an awkward place for any waitstaff to be able to navigate. That made for lots of passing food across the center of the table in order to reach some guests. Even without the additional guests, this would have been an issue---there was simply no room behind the seats for anyone to pass. The food was quite good; a bit heavy on the salt for a couple of guests but overall well prepared/presented. Our entree order arrived with an error for a single guest which resulted in her waiting while the remaining 8 guests ate. Though they rushed the last entree, it was rather frustrating. Our server clearly had too many tables to work---he was not there for long periods of time and would disappear too quickly without allowing us to make requests (like spoons for the soup which arrived without any, or steak knives for the steak which arrived without any...) I don't think that was on him---when he was present, he was affable, professional, and did what he could to make our time there good. Lastly, all but two in our party of nine were uncomfortable with the temperature. The area/room? was quite stuffy and needed a fan to move the air a bit. I will absolutely come back---the place has character, great food, good music, and is generally worth the visit. I suggest checking out large seating arrangements in advance, if possible.

                                                                          My family of 9 chose The Tobacco Company to have our Christmas dinner. Perhaps it was due to staffing two days after Christmas, but the service was mediocre at best. Drinks were slow to arrive, we had to ask for refills or additional alcoholic beverages, entrees were served prior to the appetizers being cleared resulting in an awkward shuffle of dishes to name a few. My prime rib was lukewarm and the baked potato was dry, crumbly, and generally unpleasant. In the server’s defense, he seemed to be hustling and had several other tables but this was neither the service nor quality of food I expected from such a renowned restaurant. With some many other restaurant options that offer polished service and menus at a similar price point, I don’t think we’ll be returning.
