The Union Bank—affectionately known as "The UB" to locals—is a unique dining destination in the heart of Orange. With its rich heritage charm, it offers a variety of spaces to explore and enjoy.

At the Schoolhouse Restaurant, our flagship dining space, we take all bookings. If you prefer a more relaxed vibe, our stunning courtyard connects all areas and offers the perfect casual setting. While we don’t take bookings for the courtyard, you’re welcome to request it in your booking notes, and if the weather cooperates, we’ll be happy to seat you outside!

For group dining, The UB offers several private spaces, ideal for gatherings of 8 to 40 people. Whether you're hosting a business meeting or celebrating a special occasion, we have the perfect setting for you.

Whether you're after an intimate private dining room, or the whole Schoolhouse restaurant, we have plenty of options. Spaces include: The Lobby is a small and intimate private dining room for up to 8 guests. The Bank Room is a large private dining room for up to 18 guests. lovely place and ambience.., truly a beautiful old and historical building. .. such a wonderful backdrop for a drama.We had recommendations from locals of Orange, from people at the Tourist Information and wonderful local wine bar called Ferment where we met a charming and eclectic group of wonderful local ladies before our meal. The attention at The Union Bank was very slow and after having said that the beef and accompanying dish were not to my liking, the service became surly and uncomfortable. The beef was a fabulous cut of St Thomas beef to share but it was hugely OVER SALTED & so were the accompanying fries, so much so that they were inedible. I also would have liked to have been asked how well I would like the beef cooked as it was incredibly raw and I would have preferred a little more cooking.. a minute or two more but no one asked asked us how it was during the meal. IT was a very disappointing meal in what was a theatre well set at the outset. We could not recommend despite the delightful backdrop and charming guests also eating there. It feels like such a shame as we only had 3 days in Orange.

A wonderful setting for a catch-up with family friends. Meals are essentially designed to share with the table, and the food was lovely. The staff were wonderful assisting with my dietary allergy. Across the whole evening the staff were lovely, professional yet friendly. We would all highly recommend.

Th service was outstanding. Was our anniversary so we received a free sparkling wine to start. The chicken liver pate was delicious as was the flank steak. The octopus was a little chewy but still enjoyable, the ambience is lovely and feels so warm and inviting. This is my 2nd visit and very enjoyable. We’ll definately be back

Mediocre. Which is unfortunate as I’ve been previously during the mid-week and I had a much better experience. It wasn’t a great (Saturday) night option, unfortunately. They were too busy to give that personal service that you’d expect for the $300+ bill. Food was not innovative or pretty looking, it was thrown on the plate, and the waitress we had literally threw it on the table. We had our sparkling water mixed with normal water. Our starter bread was the third thing to arrive at the table, after we assumed it was forgotten. It was mediocre.

The venue is so beautiful and what a dining experience. We had the octopus and it was so tasty and then it got better with the pork neck and fennel salad. The staff were lovely and really knowledgeable.Can’t wait to go back !

Everything was pretty good. However we were left stranded at the opening desk when we first arrived. The background music was invasive with a booming base which dominated everything. You couldn’t even hear the melody. I nearly left with my guest because of this booming overly loud noise.
