THE WOODSMAN IS A TRULY BRITISH RESTAURANT
We use the best British ingredients, all sourced as sustainably as possible.

We love using Wild food, and harvest much of it ourselves. All the meat on our menus is “nose to tail” so the menu is ever changing, and we waste nothing. We even employ our own head ranger to keep the deer herds on the land we manage under control, and have our own deer larder in the Cotswolds where this amazing product is processed.

Our fish comes from day boats in Cornwall.

We work with the seasons, ensuring the very best truly local veg is with us the day after its picked. Our food is cooked over wood from local plantations, and charcoal coppiced less than 20 miles away.

We know the story of everything on the menu.

Our lovely staff are extremely well informed, so, do ask questions on anything you’re not sure of.

    Great Sunday lunch, beef cooked just how it should be, great service and atmosphere, nice to be able to see the chefs cooking with the wood fired oven.

    Have wanted to come and dine at The Woodsman for a while and it didn't disappoint. Great service from arrival to the end of the evening and truly delicious food. I'll be back!

    We have wanted to visit this restaurant for so long as we are huge Mike Robinson fans, and it did not disappoint. I can’t recommend it highly enough, the food is outstanding and utterly delicious. The building is beautiful and maintained throughout to a high specification. The adjoining hotel is worth a stay in too.

    Our experience was probably heavily affected by the fact it was a Sunday. Unfortunately the experience of the chef's truly delicious food was marred by the unhelpful lack of information which would have warned us of the huge portion size of the Roast dishes. As was obvious from most of the fellow guest and the amount of food waste going back, it was not just us. No one likes to feel they are being had, so suggesting an extra side of dish of cauliflower cheese when all the time fully aware that abnormally large portion size of meat and vegetable would be more than sufficient seemed like a ploy to up the total - increasing the compulsory £16.00 tip. It was disrespectful both to the hard work of the chef and the team, and to the planet, to wilfully refuse to reduce the inevitable food waste - and that left a bad taste in an otherwise faultless meal.

    Real shame what a lovely place ..roast dinner was mediocre..veg was very hard red wine gravy was weak and tasteless.the starter we had was mushrooms which was ok but taken over by the size of the pastry.. desert was ok ..wine was ok but plonked on table...come on guys we pay a lot of money for a top rated dinner and just did not get it..Where's it all gone wrong ..here last year and it was brilliant.
