Thousand Pound is back and better than ever. Reopening on Thursday, 5 September, in the heart of Main Street, Rutherglen, our beloved local is unveiling a refreshed menu for Spring 2024. Executive Chef Jack Cassidy (also of KIN, New Regional Restaurant of the Year 2024) has crafted an exciting fusion of modern Australian and Asian influences, featuring vibrant flavours from China, Thailand, Vietnam, and Nepal. Pair bold, flavoursome dishes with local family-owned wines, unique wine cocktails, and craft beers. With produce from our own farms and local growers, our menu will change regularly, keeping each visit fresh and exciting. Always a top notch place for great food, good local wine list and central location. This little town is so lucky to have places of this calibre to dine. Service was attentive without being intrusive and the young waitress endured my wife’s friendly interrogation with aplomb. Nice work 1000pounds, never a disappointment.

A gorgeous wine bar with great atmosphere however as an eating out destination the meal options and quality left a lot to be desired.

Welcoming, friendly atmosphere with excellent “Asian fusion” options to share. The 16 hour slow cooked pork ribs and Goat curry were particular highlights. Loved the wine recommended too. Great night out with friends, I highly recommend

Absolutely delicious!
So pleased with our experience at Thousand Pound. We had the “feed me” menu for 2. Great options and the perfect amount of food, accompanied by a great wine list we couldn’t fault it. Timings between dishes were perfect. Able to meet dietary requests.
Staff attentive and great table side service, very polite and knowledgeable on the dishes.
Ambience was fantastic, we sat outside with our dog and the team even bought a dog bowl out!
Would recommend and will be returning as soon as we can, thank you Thousand Pound for providing something Rutherglen has been missing!

A delicious dinner in a beautiful, quiet setting. We loved every minute and will be back. Highly recommend-thanks to wait staff and chefs!

Some of the dishes such as the sweet and sour tempura prawns were standouts, but unfortunately not all. The half chicken definitely didn't meet expectations - the chicken was dry (actually tasted re-heated) and the sauce just tasted like very salty soy sauce.
