Food was so so good. A little busy so staff seemed a bit harried but overall excellent.

Came here on a holiday week so I made the reservation about 3 weeks in advance for a party of 3. The restaurant has 48 hrs cancellation policy or there is a $75 fee per person. The day before the reservation (over 24 hours notice) I called and asked if I could cancel without fees as someone in my party was not feeling well and I was told that the $75 fee per person would apply and the restaurant cannot do anything about it. Those fees are generally imposed to guarantee seatings but during the holiday week the restaurant was fully booked and could have easily found another party to take our spot with over 24hrs notice! I ended up honoring the reservation but went with my kids instead of the adults I was planning to go with. Beware of their cancellation policy! Now onto the food. The guacamole was good. Nothing exceptional, just decent but not worth the $25 cost. However the menu listed the guacamole to come with both plantain chips and corn chips and ours came with only tortilla chips. Halfway into the meal I looked over to the table next to us and they were served both plantain and corn chips with their guacamole so I obviously inquired and we were reluctantly brought the plantain chips separately. The angry tuna roll was the best thing we had at this place. No complaints and the only reason I have the food 2 stars. The most disappointing thing was the Mac and cheese with pork belly. This has got to be one of the worst Mac and cheeses to order at a restaurant, even my teen son who is not picky compared it to the Kraft Mac and cheese level of cheap flavor! For $19 it was a relatively small portion with very little pork belly in it, absolutely the worst! The service was initially okay but then progressively got worse. When my water was refilled at some point during the meal, the bus boy spilled water on both the table and the floor and did not clean up the mess that he created. Oh, and there was a 22% service fee automatically added to the check, for a party of 3!

We had high hopes for our New Year’s Eve dinner but were left deeply disappointed. We paid $600 for a dinner for an adult and an 11-year-old, expecting a premium experience. Instead, we were directed to a basement filled with toddlers—not at all the setting we anticipated. When we asked to move upstairs, the host was rude and dismissive, offering no solutions. The only silver lining was one kind hotel staff member who tried to assist us. Eventually, we were moved, but only to be seated outside with the only other Latin family present. The treatment felt deliberate and was both uncomfortable and unprofessional. To top it all off, we were charged for two adult meals, bringing our total to an eye-watering $2000 ($650 per person person plus 24% obligatory service charge) for a meal that was underwhelming and a service experience that was outright disrespectful. Toro Management should be ashamed of how they handled this situation. We expected much better for the price we paid and left feeling insulted and disappointed. We will not be returning. L

Christmas dining, buffet, my family (6), upon entering thinking such a beautiful room. Toro was recommended, feeling a place at this level should know to clear plates immediately when a person leaves the table to obtain additional food. Waited on drinks. I asked someone to clear the table. Coming back to table there is a staff person chatting with someone while holding a mop. A staff person comes to clear the table in back of us with mop bucket and wringer while we are dining. Really? Told staff person of my disappointment, staff person listened, placed bill on table , said nothing, departed. In my opinion, from my experience, not recommending.

We visited as a party of two to celebrate my wife’s birthday, having reserved our spot well in advance for the holiday season in December. While I’ll skip the finer details, the bottom line is that the service was extremely poor—not due to the waitstaff, who were kind and attentive, but because the kitchen was completely overwhelmed. After enjoying a flawless Peruvian ceviche starter, we waited over an hour and a half for our main courses to arrive. When they finally did, the food was absolutely perfect—delicious and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere was equally outstanding, making it clear this restaurant has great potential. Unfortunately, the poor kitchen coordination overshadowed what could have been a five-star experience. Despite the kindness and professionalism of the staff, the significant delays in service made the evening fall short of expectations. Bottom line: Incredible food, stunning atmosphere, but very poor kitchen functionality and service.

We found the restaurant to be beautiful and the key to the success with the great people. The manager, Oscar, our server, John, and his assistant Igor were very attentive. The food was good, although we ate fairly late since we’ve been traveling all day. I would say the atmosphere in people are both five stars and the food and value a little bit less. But then again, when you were at a resort you do expect higher cost. I had a bison burger that was undercooked for medium and my wife had chicken noodle soup that is not on the menu. I think our bill was just over $150 with tip.
