Twin Owls Steakhouse at The Taharaa Mountain Lodge

For the past two decades, the Twin Owls Steakhouse has offered the premiere fine dining and event experience in the Estes Valley. Now, as we look forward to the next twenty years, we invite you to join us in our new home at the Taharaa Mountain Lodge, and to experience the best that Estes Park has to offer.
Our menu has been carefully crafted to please the entire family, and includes a broad selection of steaks, wild game and seafood, along with a kids’ menu and an irresistible dessert selection. We also offer an extensive wine list, local craft beers and hand-crafted cocktails.

Each course perfectly paired by Erik Mohr, winemaker at Snowy Peaks Winery. *Cancellation Policy - cancellations will be accepted up to a day before event, minus a $10 cancellation fee per guest. The quality of the Meat was one of the best, but flavors and preparation of the food for the rest of the menu was very poor.

Our first time there ... food & service was great. We arrived an hour prior to our reservation, and they we able to seat us immediately ... on Christmas eve. Our table was next to the windows and I'm sure that view was spectacular, but it was 6 pm in December (dark). We plan to return in the spring or summer to catch the view. The stairs down (& back up afterward) from the parking lot were a bit challenging in the dark, but they did have motion activated lights that did help some.

Seating was prompt, Mackenna was delightful, and the food was very good. The atmosphere was festive and we can highly recommend it to anyone looking for an upscale dining experience in Estes Park.

For the price of the food at this "steakhouse", I was completely unimpressed. The prices are equivalent to Denver steakhouses but not the experience or quality of food. After being seated and ordered, all the food including our starters all came out at once. Very surprising. The food was more inline of an Outback. The coconut shrimp tasted like it was frozen instead of hand battered and the braised short ribs was over cooked and dry. The crab chowder had little crab. I can't recommend the place given the high prices. They were open Christmas Eve but not sure we will be back given the experience.

Christmas Eve Dinner 2024. Outstanding! Server Daniel was one of the best I've ever experienced. Friendly, pleasant appropriately attentive. Food-prime rib, sirloin steak plus sides were delicious! Perfectly prepared. Bread and herb dipping brought immediately after sitting down. 2 drinks-Cosmo before dinner and White Russian after dinner-were best I've ever had. Full to top and not at all stingy on alcohol. All staff were more than friendly and accommodating. Pleasantly quiet. Tables not at all packed in. Partner and I in EP celebrating 2nd Christmas together. Choosing Twin Owls Steakhouse for Christmas Eve dinner was an excellent choice. Scale 1-10, definitely a 12. We'll definitely be back.

Absolutely everything was outstanding! We both had the halibut and New York Strip and they were just so darn tasty! We will definitely be back again !

The venue is the best thing going for this place. The views were incredible. The food wasn't horrible, it just wasn't worth it. Tables around us had bread served with the water upon seating, we were asked if we wanted some, we of course said yes, had to ask for it again after the first appetizers were served. We started with Elk Kabobs, Baked Brie, and Smoked Duck Crostini. The elk was dry and pasty, the duck was average, but sad because it is a delicacy that should always hit. The best appetizer sadly was they baked brie. It was probably the highlight of the meal for me. We then tried the soup of the day, a crab chowder. I love crab and was super excited for this to only feel like they robbed me of the joy and served me tomato vegetable soup with shredded chicken instead of crab. We followed that with a spinach and beet salad. Good thing that is really hard to mess up and was decent. Then we had the main course. We had the way overpriced Wagyu Prime Rib at $ 95. I say overpriced because for chicle, it should have only been $0.95. It was unbelievably chewy. My son had the 8 oz Sirloin. His was fair, even if he didn't eat it all. Finished it off with a carrot cake, which for one of the few we've had, no raisin, but it did have coconut flakes and pineapple. At least we ended the night with a good bite. The service was average for such an expensive, fancy, and holiday night.

I really like dining here but I always come away with something that makes me think I wish it were better. We went with their house wine by the glass this time and when we were served it was like a quarter of a glass. My wife walked over to the bartender and asked if this was normal or not. The bartender admitted that it was a little short but said that the house pour is only 5 ounces. So beware of poor value when it comes to ordinary house wine. Vendage is one of the house wines and it’s considered a cheap mediocre wine. The other let-downs were: bernaise sauce was poor and not warm. Brussels sprouts were rather large and undercooked. Service was slow even though the restaurant wasn’t full.
