   The Tasting Menu was outstanding! 6 wonderful courses one after another where each courses was as good as the previous one. The halibut and the lamb were especially memorable. Congratulations to the chef!

   Recognized as Victoria, BC’s Best New Restaurant by YAM Magazine, listed as one of Canada’s Best New Restaurants by Air Canada’s En Route Magazine, as well Top 100 Canadian Restaurants from Open Table reviews The Ugly Duckling Dining & Provisions located in the heart of Victoria Chinatown was a nice treat because I was not in town on my birthday to celebrate with my ❤️ We both haven't been here before so it was a meaningful seven course dining experience. Menu changes as they only use fresh options from their local farmers and the whims of the culinary team, therefore restaurant only serves a pre fixed tasting menu, it was a surprise on what items would be served and 😊easy for someone whom is very indecisive like me Staff knowledgable of each course was very well executed, attentive but not overbearing. Blend of fusion and west coast flavours today's food consisted of : Warm Milk Bread with Leek Butter, Chawanmushi, Charred Octopus, Fresh Haida Gwaii Halibut Poached that melted in mouth, 👍Lamb three ways, Passionfruit Mango Remise en Bouche sorbet, Panna Cotta made with Salish apples, and to complete meal after cake we had Chocolate and 😋 fresh Macarons The menu is very well thought out and the presentation is flawless, ingredients played well off each other, but the wait times between tasting menu courses was a tad longer than expected. Birthday card and postcard of building history was a nice touch, but not really knowing what be on the menu was a little tricky at first to order a drink, I chose to play it safe with a glass of Rosé. It is rated as fine dining but in my opinion, it's smart casual with chic vibe.

   The food was very good, but the portions are way too small for the price. We left hungry and annoyed that the bill (for 2 people) was over $300, and we did NOT order any alcohol!

   A true foodie experience. We opted for the tasting menu and it was an experience to remember. The dishes were prepared with the precision and craftsmanship of a true culinary artist. I loved being able to see into the chef's atelier and waited for each course with a childlike excitement. We were celebrating our anniversary but I think I ended up with a serious FOOD crush on Corbin! We will definitely be back every chance we get!

   The whole experience from start to finish was one of the mist memorable dining we have had anywhere. The service, the surprise menu, the wine pairings and pacing of the whole evening was top notch. What a delicious delight! I would definitely recommend The Ugly Duckling Restaurant and will be returning for certain.

   One of my favorite tasting menu experiences I’ve ever had. They did a great job at bringing the spotlight on the amazing local ingredients home to the PNW. They also were very innovative while still maintaining a deliciousness factor which so many restaurants fail to succeed at. I’ll be back soon for sure!

    I mean, what an incredible experience! Run do not waddle to this amazing restaurant and incredible experience. Incredibly talented chefs , beautifully, curated cocktail and wine menu Megan the server was absolutely exceptional ! Beautiful space with brick walls and great art.
