Ulu Kitchen by Merriman is an ocean front restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner service featuring local ingredients and recipes created by chef Peter Merriman.

We have indoor and outdoor dining options, with a full bar, and the most prime dining views in all of Ka'anapali. The breakfast menu features classic favorites like Eggs Benedits, omelettes, pancakes, as well as some unique dishes like the cure (breakfast ramen) and our Hawaiian chilaquiles.

Lunch features our signature smash burger, fresh ahi tuna poke bowl, tempura battered fish and chips, and a fresh local veggie wrap.

Dinner has a seafood forward menu featuring Ahi Sashimi, Grilled Tako, Scallops, Mahi Mahi, Shrimp and Lobster Ravioli. From the land we offer a USDA Prime Beef Filet Mignon, Snake River Farms Wagyu Beef Cheeseburger, and Maui Nut Venison Loin.

Food was very good and prices were what to expect at a Kaanapali restaurant- glad to have Merriman’s take over this spot. Had the scallops, ravioli and a variety of apps. Love the Monkeypod mai tai. Very nice interior with great lighting (which so many restaurants don’t do well.) At the end of the meal we had spent nearly $600 for all 7 of us. Our server pointed out specifically the tip buttons when having us pay and it was only when we looked closer we saw a 20% gratuity was already included in the bill. We had to show him where it was included (he said the machines were new? So he hadn’t noticed?) anyway - for larger parties, check your bill…

Yummy food and beautiful space. Not a great value but that’s Maui. Waitress was great but hostess got us off to an unwelcoming start. It was a quiet night and still got seated indoors next to a loud bass speaker, next to two loud tables of children, and in the middle of the wait staff traffic to the outdoor seating… not a pleasant experience overall but likely table dependent.

Booked the reservation two months ago but somehow when we asked to sit at a table outside, those were “reserved.” Not exactly sure how much more reserved they can be from two months out. Then, all five of us needed to add salt to our food. Disappointing considering it’s a Merriman’s restaurant. Hopefully it’s just new restaurant opening pains. Our server, Lauren, was great though.

Very disappointed. The waiter seemed to be in a hurry. Brought the main courses before the soups and entrees. Everyone at the restaurant seemed to be in a bad mood. Not going back

Fabulous food, ambience and a great waitress! Her recommendations were absolutely on the money! Food was as good as their premier restaurant Merriman’s! A true winner at the Westin Hoel in Ka’anapali!

As usual the service was great. Lily was wonderful. Eating outdoors on a balmy night was fabulous. Diver scallops (2 plates) were wonderful. However, I was disappointed with an odd seasoning flavor on my fillet and the green beans. The seasoning overpowered any great steak flavor. Steak was also not as wonderful as the first time I had it, - it was not crispy on the outside. It was soft and juicy, but the first time had it I thought it was just a 1/2 grade below a Ruth Chris filet, this time it was slightly less than an Outback. Will definitely go back, but no more steaks for me.
