Charming - Rustic - Organic - Farm-to-Table

At Vegetable (stylized /vege•ta•ble/), a rustic 36-seat all organic restaurant in the shadows of Universal Studios, Chef & Proprietor Jerry CP Yu preaches the gospel of “guilt-free & comfortable food.” The interior features reclaimed wood, aged brick, exposed pre-war rafters with industrial chic metal shop fans and chalk walls featuring punny vegetable artwork, all lit by the soft glow of Edison bulbs.

As for the cuisine, expect bursts of spice, deeply concentrated flavors and a big mix-and-match menu that’s designed to be passed around and shared. Vegetable-focused dishes such as slow-roasted rainbow heritage carrots, fire-charred Brussels sprouts, blistered sweet potatoes with a spicy dry rub, and pan-seared saffron corn cake that is both crispy and creamy. Had a great lunch here. Love their new burger pop-up menu. Our server was so nice and helpful. Food was amazing. Had the smash cheeseburger and soup.

Mother’s Day. The waitress was extremely sweet and helpful. The food choices could be better (miss the old menu), but we enjoyed what we had. Doesn’t seem like the same chef, overall. We sat outside and there were strange people walking around the area and it made it a little awkward. Would probably eat indoors next time.

I brought my wife here for her birthday. We have not eaten here in a year and we were looking forward to having a great meal. The “OPEN” res action app asks if I was interested in a standard meal, I thought that meant I had a choice of the “regular” menu vs the burger menu. Unfortunately due to the pandemic the menu mostly offers over processed substitute meat burgers. I really wish we had more options of old menu. We are not vegans, but we really love this restaurant as a “vegetable” only restaurant. We are not big fans of fake meats. My biggest complaint is the menu options.

Sorry you didnt enjoy our COVID-19 POP-UP Menu. We reduced staff because we are allowed to only seat 3 tables. Because of this, the only viable way to reopen is a take-out/doordash menu (per LA Health Dept). This is the only menu we have on display via opentable and website. We love our old menu & concept but a shareables menu is just not doable during a pandemic. Also your choice in the OT app was for seating. "Standard" referred to table type (vs outdoor/hightop). Sorry for the confusion.

Terrible. Only one table in the restaurant and we waited one hour. Whew . Avocado on the avocado toast was brownish. Not worth the money and wait. Whew.

Hello, you slightly exaggerated. Apologize if the avocado toast was not your liking, we blend our avocados w/ nut yeast, lemon juice and paprika so might cause the puree to look yellow/brownish, but they are made to order and fresh. If you had mentioned your dislike we would've removed it from you bill, but you indicated no such displeasure. During COVID, we are very short staffed and 99% of our orders are doordash/togo, sorry for your 23.5 min wait. (yes I reviewed it, and we have cameras)

We love Vegetable. Although we miss the old menu, especially the vegan cheeseboard, we thought that the burger menu was phenomenal as well. Our waitress was wonderful and everything about our experience was amazing. Recommend eating indoors if being outside near a busy road with bother you. We drive from San Diego to eat here-don't miss this place!
