My husband and I have been eager to try Vigilucci’s, and since we were in Encinitas for the evening, we decided on a nice dinner out We started with the table bread, which was warm and tasty, but the oil and balsamic weren’t quite to my satisfaction—I would have preferred butter and garlic. For our mains, we ordered the Chicken Piccata di Pollo and the Filetto pizza. The pizza looked amazing, but unfortunately, it had excess water from the meat still cooking on top. The Gorgonzola tasted more like blue cheese, which wasn’t what we expected. While the filet mignon was tender, it lacked flavor and wasn’t particularly memorable, though the crust was outstanding. The pasta itself was just okay, but the chicken completely made up for it! It was flavorful, and when paired with the roasted vegetables, it really brought the dish together. Overall, our experience had its highs and lows. The meal had some standout elements, but there were a few disappointments as well. We’d be open to returning to try other dishes, hoping for a more consistent experience next time

The service was excellent; our server, Oscar, was great! We were surprised that it was a special menu (I’ll assume responsibility for not asking the question, but I don’t recall seeing anything on Open Table about a special menu). That was fine (although somewhat disappointing because there was no Bolognese on the menu), but based on the pricing it appeared there was a desire to take advantage of the Valentine’s Day “holiday”. Won’t keep us from coming back, but not the best experience.

We had a wonderful time. The ambiance was great. The food was good, but I had greater expectations. It was my first time tot his particular Vigilucci's, and I have had good experiences at the other ones. The helping was fantastic, the scallops were delicious, but the shrimp was overcooked as well as the fish. I wish the bread was fresher as well. I've been spoiled making bread at home I suppose. I do look forward to trying happy hour.

Experience started out great. Got seated promptly and got an appetizer going while we looked over the wine list. Hot artichoke appetizer came out before we got our wine. ‘‘Twas cold by the time we got wine but was still tasty. Jesse was our server and was very friendly. My wife’s pasta entree was amazing. I got veal scallopini and was disappointed. I’ve ordered it elsewhere and it was delicious. This one had an odd flavor profile and I only ate half before giving up. It was an “acquired taste” I would say. All good. I got up to go to the restroom and when I came back they had brought out a canolli for Valentine’s Day. The waiter told my wife it was complimentary. It was not. We were disappointed because we actually wanted a different desert. All in all, no one bats 1000 and we will probably one day go back and try some other options.
