Three of us from Portland, Oregon visiting Seattle. We had a 6:00 reservation and were seated immediately; restaurant started to fill up more around 6:30. We really liked the lighting and general comfortable, contemporary and cozy vibe here. We loved the salad and potato puree. The chicken breast was beautiful and delicious. Special appetizer hamachi crudo didn’t have much flavor and was just okay, octopus good. Cod was good, not great. It seemed to take forever to get the cod and the chicken which seemed very odd since the other food came out in a timely manner. Service was generally good but we did find it odd that our waiter didn’t check in or update us on why our entrees were taking an inordinately long time. But he was busy with other tables so maybe wasn’t aware. In general for the price, we were kind of disappointed because this restaurant was highly recommended by several people on Reddit in the Seattle Dining topic.

Violet is consistently one of the top restaurants in Seattle. We were a party of four with two out of town guests. We ordered the American Omakase meal with vegetable, fish, and meat courses but without the foie gras. The chef easily accommodated one guest who does not eat beef. As always at Violet, the fish courses were superb--the chef has a real touch with both crude and cooked fish. Plating was lovely and creative, worthy of a starred restaurant. Service was attentive. Wine list is interesting if a little over priced. The restaurant is very loud and would not be good for anyone with hearing problems. It was perhaps worse this evening because there were some very noisy guests. We return to Violet several times a year because it is so very good. Bravo.

We went with the tasting menu and it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Service was incredible and the flavors of the food (with wine pairing) were perfectly balanced. Such variety. Beautiful plating too. I loved it.

It was good, but the service stalled out and they struggled to get food and drinks out of the kitchen. A dinner can be leisurely but, all told, it overran by a good 40 minutes to an hour.

We celebrated a friend’s birthday. Four of us. Did the chef’s tasting menu and was blown away. The textures, flavor explosions, colors, and variety of dishes were incredible. One of the most unique and delicious meals I have ever eaten and I have had the furtune of eating around the world. I will be coming back with more friends. Also, impeccable service (Karel) and elegant ambiance.
