Virtue Feed & Grain is a modern American dining room and bar located near the Potomac River in Old Town, Alexandria. Our menu offers an array of original recipe, flavorful, scratch-made dishes, along with extensive selections from the bar, like handcrafted cocktails, craft and small-batch beers, and an impressive wine list. The rustic elegance of our large, two-story restaurant provides a vibrant atmosphere for any dining experience, as well as private and semi-private spaces for private events, celebrations, weddings, business meetings, and gatherings of all types. The seasonal outdoor patio on historic Wales Alley offers views to the Potomac and a fun, casual destination.**

*Unfortunately we do not take advance reservations on our outdoor patio, but we will do our best to accommodate requests as space is available.
** All Major Holidays will require a $50 deposit when booking and subject to a 2 hour table time. Please call the restaurant for assistance.

Austin provided attentive service and gave recommendations when asked. I tried some new dishes, food was hot and atmosphere enjoyable.

Felt very rushed Had been there in June and had a very friendly, wonderful server. This experience was not friendly, it was rushed, food wasn’t as good as last time. Food was just dropped on the table. No salt and pepper despite asking for it. Overall just disappointing compared to our first experience

The food and service were both excellent Also the location was very convenient to everything in downtown Alexandria The history of the building is prominently displayed and it’s very well preserved and maintained You won’t be disappointed with this restaurant Enjoy !

Troy was attentive and gave outstanding recommendations for the trout and cheesecake. I spilled my drink and without hesitation he brought over a new one at no charge. I LOVE this place!!!

In this day and age, I can’t believe that a restaurant doesn’t have separate fryers for fish. I have a shellfish allergy and this took more than half the menu out of contention, which was very sad because the butternut squash and beet salad was extremely disappointing. My friend from NYC said it was the smallest mimosa she’d ever seen. The highlights were our waiter Theo and the Mac and cheese.

The table area requested in the reservation was actually reserved for my party. I went for brunch and wanted a nice cappuccino, but learned that the restaurant doesn’t have a machine and apparently it has been for a long time. Due to that, I’m giving them 4 stars. The drink menu is humongous, so was surprised that you can’t get a nice coffee drink. I ordered the Chesapeake Benedict and Grand Harvest Mimosa. Food came out fast and it was good. One popular refreshing drink that we kept ordering was the Hibiscus Aperol Spritz.

We arrived for our 12:15 reservation on a very busy Saturday. Nevertheless, we were seated right away at a great table. We actually ended up having 2 servers for a bit, which was funny, but needless to say, the service was excellent. Everyone at our table got something slightly different, but brunch was the theme, and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, the drinks were unique and made well, the service was outstanding - we really couldn't have asked for more. What a fantastic experience!
