   We can't review this restaurant, as when we arrived we were told that they were closing in 4 days so the restaurant menu was off and they only had a limited bar menu

   Warm welcome, great food, really good value, lovely friendly service. Exceptional choice of wine by the glass. And gins - lots of gins. Had chicken liver pate and wild mushroom risotto to start. Risotto was fabulous, moved around the plate but rice still had a bite - excellent. Pate also very good, strong taste, side salad could have had a bit of dressing though. Steak and carbonara for mains. No complaints about the steak and accompanying chips top-notch. Carbonara also well made with egg but I could have done without the chicken pieces in it? We just about managed dessert - crumble with pecan topping and the best homemade vanilla icecream - fantastic. Cheesecake made with Merlyn liquer - mmm, not sure - we ate most of it and it was really well made but I probably wouldn't order it again. Only downpoint? We chose a table next to the door to the toilets and the spring had broken so a loud bang accompanied our meal at regular intervals. But I would and will go back for the food, service and great ambience.

   Restaurant was empty. Decor a bit tired. Service was friendly but good very disappointing.

   Excellent Sunday lunch , biggest Yorkshire pudding I have ever seen. The beef was just right as was the veg and the oration size. Third time we have eaten there and we will be back.

   Excellent food and lovely friendly service. My only concern was there was little disabled access. There was a high step into toilets and all entrance/exits seemed to be stepped. However it was an enjoyable afternoon. Thank you

   The starter was very nice, no issues here. However, the beef roast was disappointing. It looked impressive initially with its overly large Yorkshire pudding, which remains fashionable for some reason. However the roasted vegetables let the meal down. I'm not sure when the potatoes were roasted, but they were luke warm, leathery with no crispiness at all. The meal overall was warm but not hot. Service seems to be following the trend where teenagers are employed cheaply and lack enthusiasm for the job. The setting is picturesque, the bar and restaurant very welcoming. I would probably visit again but try a different dish.

   The restaurant and bar were quite quiet but there was live music which drifted up to the restaurant. The waitress was very attentive and the restaurant decor very pleasant. Overall, the food was good. I had a very tasty lamb curry followed by a very nice and light fruit crumble. My friend had a pasta dish which she found tasty but the sauce was quite thin and almost tasted of cream. A pleasant evening and I would be happy to visit again.

   Overall disappointing; food was just not what was expected and it didn't quite work. Might go again to try a different menu.

    Unfortunately I was disappointed with my experience at Welcome To Town. The food was particularly unimpressive: tough/over-cooked lamb and a cheesecake that looked & tasted like it'd come from a supermarket shelf. The taxi driver laughed when I commented on dinner: apparently Welcome To Town has rested on its laurels after initial good reviews and is locally regarded as a place best avoided.
