Located at Yosemite Valley Lodge, the Mountain Room Restaurant boasts striking views of the 2,424 foot high Yosemite Falls. The menu is equally impressive, featuring sizzling steaks and fresh seafood. The chef’s specialties include local, organic & seasonal preparations including sustainable fish and seafood in accordance with the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch List. The Mountain Room Restaurant is open year-round.

                                              This was the worst fine dining experience I’ve had in recent memory: ordered the ribeye and was given what felt and looked exactly like a New York strip, and was assured that my steak was, indeed, a ribeye, but that the cooks decided to offer us the rib cap/end piece. I’ve eaten rib cap plenty of times, and in several excellent restaurants, and it was clear we were being fleeced by the kitchen staff. The kind server did agree to take the steak off our tab, which was appreciated. However, we also ordered the pasta and it was, no exaggeration, almost inedible: overcooked and rubbery pasta with barely discernible “cashew cream” sauce, with a light drizzle of balsamic (the latter of which is not listed as a featured ingredient). It is no exaggeration to say I was gobsmacked by the quality of this food. I will not be returning.

                                              Our waiter, Eric, was kind and very accommodating. My son has a peanut allergy so I appreciate him being conscientious and reassuring about keeping my kiddo safe. Thanks!

                                              Very pleasant meal, especially compared to the awful meal we had a few nights earlier at the Ahwahnee. Service was great and it is a very nice space (although I’ve never understood why none of the architecture in Yosemite orients towards the views). The food is solid - decent flavors and good presentation. My trout, though, arrived a little cold and the French Onion Soup, although nicely hot and cheesy, was a bit bland. The cocktails were good, and the Basque Cheesecake very yummy.

                                              Steak was outstanding. Salmon was very good. Our waiter was fine but we felt very rushed. It also took a long time for our food to come out. However, when it did, it was very good. Rose, our waiter’s assistant, was very kind and friendly.

                                              This was our second time eating here. With the Ahwahnee kitchen remodel ongoing this is by far the best option in the valley. The dining room is beautifully decorated with portraits of the valley and large floor to ceiling windows at one end. Staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is expertly plated, delicious and comparatively priced. Definitely recommend the 10oz fillet!

                                              A very nice dining experience, with well prepared food. Nothing too exciting or original but like a fine dining experience. Not too very many options on the menu. A few things were a bit pricey. Big focus on expensive steaks. Good service. Beautiful space. A bit quiet and dark.
