Yunnan By Potomac Noodle House strives to be an ambassador for the people and culture of Southwest China and add to the story of what it means to be Chinese-American through our lens on contemporary Yunnan cuisine. Not your typical Chinese food, the Soul Food of Yunnan is Mixian - a light and almost fluffy rice noodle - which is prepared with braised meats, rich broths and sweet, savory and spicy sauces (vegetarian options available). Other specialties include various small plates, handmade dumplings, bao buns, and satisfying desserts. We always find Yunnan to be a unique and special experience. The food is delicious, and we can never decide which of our many favorite dishes to order - except we always have our favorite appetizers, the wood ear mushrooms and Little-4 cucumbers.

A gem hidden away from the center of Old Town Alexandria. The ambiance is calm - my mom said, "the space and music makes me feel like I am about to get a facial or massage." Our waiter went through the menu page by page, sharing the most popular dishes and his own favorites. The food was spectacular. Delicious and flavorful. The Ube Rose sticky rose was delicious, the chicken bao buns are perfectly crispy and rather large. I never knew cucumbers could taste so delicious until we tried the little 4 cucumbers. And of course the noodles are fresh with light broths and a ton of veggies. I will definitely be going back!

I would definitely go back! Fortunately our reservation was honored despite it seemingly so packed by time arrived for reservation (yeah that's what we'd expect with a reservation but always chance we could get hit with opposite outcome)! Food was very tasty and worth value even though went with small plates rather than any of the bowl of noodles

Food: the dumplings and noodle dishes were fantastic, very tasty. Loved the pork dumplings, that was the best part of the meal. DO NOT order the crispy garlic rice. Extremely overpowering cilantro taste, dry, burnt rice, and no garlic taste at all. It's basically burnt white rice with cilantro. Service was horrible. They were out of 4 of their 6 beers number one. I ordered for my bf and I which made it seem obvious that we were sharing all of the dishes. Server said the kitchen could split the noodle dish (normally for one person). Then later, when I confirmed he said it was already too late to tell the kitchen, so we had to pour the noodle dish separately into two small bowls spilling much of the broth on the table. He also never checked on us when the food was coming out or offered to get us more drinks. Ambiance was ok. It actually seemed kind of bright in there. They have real flowers on the table and the smell was really strong. The bathrooms were disgusting. I think I'd only go back to order takeout
